Who else thinks it’s stupid when people inappropriately use the term passed?

I saw some article about someone’s dog getting shot during Instacart delivery, and in the comment somebody said that the dog passed. well, no, the dog was killed. Such a stupid PC term to use that does not apply to an unnatural death.

Mark Twain said "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics". Evidently, the 19th century was a more honest time; we've added in a fourth category: euphemisms.

It's the same mindset that talks about "ethnic cleansing", as though the undesirables were being rounded up and forcibly bathed. But heaven forfend we offend the feelings of mass murderers!

I think the same when they say that someone “passed out.”

WTF does that stupidity mean.

You see, “passing” denotes moving from one place or location or state of being into another one. It’s a term referring to a transition.

When the pioneers moved West across the Rocky Mountains what did they look for to get through the mountains?

A pass.

And when someone dies they PASS from the living to the dead, from consciousness to clinical death.

They are not trying to downplay the trauma the dog's family went through and they are not trying to deny the guilt of the shooter, they are trying to mediate a tough event so that it creates a smaller stain on the mood of the readers who hear about it. The restitution in cash or punishment can be done through the judicial system.

It's not a pc term it's simply considering the feelings of the owner, which is what human beings do.
