Libertarians resemble the old liberal wing of the Democrat party. They believe in a limited government and more personal rights. The Republican party is much more libertarian than the democrats.

I reject that. Liberals want change and progress. Yes, classical liberals, of which I am one, value indivudual liberty over the collective, and we are free-market capitalists.

Modern "liberals" want change and value democracy and progress over the status quo. They are not fans of free-market capitalism but neither are modern conservatives. Modern conservatives are pro-tariffs, pro-subsidy, & anti-immigration.

So who is really "liberal" today in the classical liberal sense of the term: libertarians, though some in the party reject that label.

Actually look up classical liberalism versus social liberalism.

Classical liberalism is mostly filled up with negative rights while socialism liberalism is filled up with positive rights. Social liberalism actively goes for change and uses government programs while classical liberalism is going to want much less government involved. I would personally point to the dictionary for definitions in the vast majority of cases. Just look at how the word feminism has been poisoned! It should mean precisely what it says in the dictionary but people like to corrupt movements and make them into something they are not.

Bernie is pretty far left and so is AOC. Vivek is more centrist. Buuut Bernie was the fucking man dude. He had a very consistent record and was against corruption in the Democratic party before they finally broke him. If there was any justice in the world he would have been the one that gone against Donald Trump in 2016. That would actually be a pretty cool race and even if Trump won that time he would be pushed a bit more towards the left by Bernie. Not that Trump is particularly right-wing, being a New York businessman.
