while men aren't typically the "only breadwinner" in relatinships anymore, they are most definitely still the one that "wins more bread" so to speak.
also the father role in a childs development is still crucial. while the mother typically does the nurturing part really well, what fathers excell at is challenging their child to gorw and improve the mothers are typically terrible at that, cause their instinct to nurture eventually leads to creating dependencies. cause the moms nurturing behavior will ensure that the child will stay in need of nurture.
so on a very basic level: women are vital to get a child to reach adulthood. men are needed to make the children succeed after adulthood.

It's rather hard to be the breadwinner for most men who were given an inferior education thanks to policy changes in the 1990's to better appeal to girls.
shifting away from competitive learning techniques that drive boys to excel.
Realizing that being the breadwinner was never really the script for masculinity.

Being the breadwinner has always been important, and it continues to be important, despite the vocal protests of "feminists," but any man who thinks that it is the sole required qualification has seriously missed the mark.
I never realised it was, at times my mum was earning more than my dad and that was like years ago. I am well paid, for some relationships I’ve earned more, for others I’ve earned less than my girlfriend. Zero chance I am going to check with a girl what her salary is before I date her, just in case she earns more than me lol. You have relationships with people you are attracted to and not doing this entire masculinity bollox, it just shouts insecurity.
You don't need a "script for masculinity" or for anything else. Do what pleases you and meet a woman who is happy with that.
It's still in the script , nothing can change that
