I think most folks who object are religiously-minded, and to them, humans are the premiere species on earth, everything else in existence only exists to sustain us or sustain that which gives us sustenance, and there’s no such thing as “too many humans.” It’s just a very self-aggrandizing perspective on the human species, just that literally everything is about us. Like humanity flourishing to the utmost extreme, even at the expense of whatever or whoever else, is the endgame, and we’re absolutely fucked if we let that take over.
That said, I don’t view abortion as a means of birth control, per se. I’m just saying life happens, humans are gonna fuck no matter how much you tell us not to or to only do it in certain circumstances, and not everyone wants a baby. “Don’t have sex if you don’t want a baby”…. great idea, let me know if you ever have even a shred of confidence that this will deter anyone in any significant way, lmao. And frankly, if you aren’t all-in on raising a child, I think it’s better for you AND the child that that child just doesn’t exist. Miss me with the adoption thing…. if we force all the births to happen, there simply aren’t enough people looking to adopt to warrant that level of supply. There aren’t enough as it is.
Bottom line: human beings are fucking OVERRATED, lmfao. The clip of reproduction we’ve been at since The Industrial Revolution is UNSUSTAINABLE. Again, I’m not calling for any exterminations, but if someone wants to pitch in and NOT add more humans to the mix, those are the real heroes, lmao.
I want all the pro-lifers to remember that that unborn baby you’re screaming into a megaphone about, in 20 years, they’re going to just be another idiot adult who’s pissing you off. They’ll be “one of these worthless kids from the younger generation”, or just that slob with their asscrack sticking out of their stained sweatpants in line in front of you at Walmart, or the asshole who cut you off on the highway, or the guy who had to be super particular in front of you about his order at Dunkin’ Donuts and it made you late for work. They’re not the cute little kid with a head too big for their body that has on cute little overalls and tiny shoes, and they wobble and fall down and say silly things that warm your heart…. we were all that kid once. And now, look at us😂😂😂 Disgusting, lmfao.
Overall, we just can’t let religion inform our political policy or societal norms. Not everyone is on board with it, so if it can’t be uniform, it can’t be a thing. Don’t vote based on if you like it or not, vote based upon real-life impact and free of romanticized ideas of who an aborted fetus MIGHT HAVE grown up to be.
For me, it’s just an issue of choice, and minding your own business. I also thing the issue has been hijacked and BADLY mischaracterized by the right wing to emotionally recruit voters who right wing policies may not truly benefit, so they need to get them on some other issue they feel passionately about. Like if you think these nine-month abortions are happening in reality, I have a bridge in Brooklyn I’d like to sell you, and I’ll throw in the Golden Gate Bridge for half-price. That’s just designed to emotionally appeal to people and get them to vote on outrage. Most abortions happen in the first or early second trimester. This idea that a full baby is being pulled out and dismembered at 8 months and 29 days because mom crunched the numbers and decided it was either abort the baby or cancel her subscription to Netflix…I mean, holy fuck, what ELSE do you believe?😂😂😂 What an absolutely preposterous lie to bite on, holy smokes, you guys💀💀💀
Anyway, I’m rambling, but the key word here is: disingenuous. The whole anti-abortion movement is disingenuous. I can buy having an objection, we all have opinions, but it feels like they try to paint it in as horrifying a manner possible to influence people, rather than just presenting facts and letting people make up their own minds. Getting the win is more important to them than to being honest. Honestly, most of them are probably just badly misinformed and believe this stuff to be true, so maybe their hearts are coming from a decent place but they simply don’t know what they’re talking about. I think there’s a lot of that going on with many of the big buzzword issues today.
Having a baby is a big deal and changes your life, not always for the better. I’ll always defer to the already-alive person if it comes down to one or the other. You could’ve aborted me up to about 2 1/2 years old and I’d have been none the wiser, lmao. I’m glad I’m here, but if I wasn’t…them’s the breaks. And what I think doesn’t even matter, it’s about what’s best for humanity at-large, and more so, for Earth, which is infinitely more important than the human species. So much of this is based in our own self-importance, really, lmao, like I said, we’re wildly overrated as beings😂
I don’t really like the “strict father” mentality some people have, the ones who say “you made your bed, now lay in it and like it”, almost gleefully, it’s fucking WEIRD. Why are you so hung up on whether or not other people take responsibility for their actions? Mind your fucking business, what the fuck? Very, very weird way to live one’s life. I think people get some sort of psychological boost by feeling superior for a brief moment in their probably-sad lives by pointing a finger at others’ perceived shortcomings, and they feel like a boss telling them to “deal with it.” Humans are pathetic, honestly🙄😂

The entirety of the issue rests on several factors and where you come down on them.
The first is personhood. It's the fact that you are a person that makes it wrong to kill you for no good reason. It is utterly irrelevant if I can kill you painlessly. Suppose I could guarantee that I can kill with zero pain. My guess is you would still object on the grounds that you are a person and as such have a fundamental inalienable right to life.
The second is what constitutes personhood. What facts must be true in order to grant you the title of person. And to that end, at what stage of development should we grant that title to a developing embryo.
The third is the consideration that there are indeed circumstances where even a person can be killed provided the kill can be justified. Such as self defense, war, death penalty etc.
The fourth is the issue of bodily autonomy. To what extent are we free to do as we please with our bodies. The answer to this is not as clear or obvious as many people seem to reflexively assume. You may not let someone cut your arms off, or kill you, or enter yourself into gladiator style fights to the death. If a policeman walked up on you trying to saw off an arm he would have a legal and moral duty to stop you. And we would not permit a doctor to do it for you for no good reason.
The fifth is indeed the issue of what we permit doctors to do to people at their request. To what extent do we allow doctors to perform elective surgeries? Should we allow doctors to mutilate people just because they want them too? How far are we really willing to allow doctors to go.
There are many other issues but I don't feel like writing anymore.
Where you come down on these will determine whether or not you think abortion should be acceptable.
I don't get why people care so much. Did you ever think not every child wants to be born? Like had my parents aborted me I wouldn't have cared, life is one of the worst punishments you could give to a person, unless you are rich. Literally if someone killed me now I wouldn't care. 2 years ago I was doing risky things hoping to die or be killed.
Also take my mom for instance she was born, her mother died when she was 2. Then she was given away for adoption. Her adoptive mother beat her and her adoptive father and uncles molested her. She left home at 15, hung out with bikers and other crazy people. She grew up with many issues and had us kids solely to love her. Wouldn't it have been better to just abort her so she wouldn't of had to live through that horrible childhood and then had us and put us through a tough childhood too because she was so damaged? If someone can't provide everything needed for their child to have a happy life, I think you should abort. Since I know I sure it is the more humane thing to do. Clearly people who tell people not to abort have never lived a hard life so really they shouldn't have a say it the matter at all.
Who said an abortion doesn't cause pain? I don't think anyone has ever survived an abortion for a first-hand experience. If someone does not want to get pregnant there are a number of things they can do to avoid it. Not doing these and relying on an abortion as their birth control makes them selfish dicks.

Some believe birth is a consequence or “punishment” of sex. It’s pretty clear when some of them say abortion is wrong except for in cases where the woman was raped. If it’s wrong, it’s wrong either way, right? Well, that really reveals their logic.
If I can kill you with you suffering pain, should anyone care?
For the same reason people care if Jews or Blacks are executed. If you can't hear their cries in a concentration camp as they are executed and loaded into mass graves, it still matters in any country that has a moral compass. People have a right to life regardless of who they are which can not be take from them without due process of law. When people murder other people, the general consensus is that an eye for an eye might be up for discussion, but executing people randomly without cause is not acceptable to most people. If you're OK with executing helpless children that have not even had the chance to wrong anyone yet, then you're obviously OK with rounding up and executing anyone and everyone that is a minor inconvenience to you. That guy has the wrong color shirt on him, put a bullet in his head. That woman gained two pound, hang her from a lamp post. Clearly civilization can't survive with people like you in it. People have to have some level of respect for human life in order to live among one another.
I think people who object to any abortion do so for religious reasons. They think that life begins at conception. Those people are primitive, authoritarian, and have a Biblically inspired, patriarchal attitude toward women.
I, personally, have zero problem with the morning after pill or with chemical abortion that can be performed up to 8 weeks after her last period. At that point, the fetus isn't formed enough to have a nervous system or any consciousness.
I do have a major problem with late term abortion unless it's for a medical emergency.
And I have a major problem with idiots who engage in serial abortion as a means of birth control. It easy to kill anyone without causing said person pain. Indeed being shot in the head is almost certainly painless in most cases with instant death, as is lethal injection.
Where do you get this stick idea that everything is about pain? Your ability to be warned of damage is not related to the underling problem of said damage to your life.
Likewise a baby for a very long time has no idea of the consequences of his or her actions.Thou we can presume they fear death as all life regardless of how small does in its efforts to avoid it to the limits of it's capability.
That does not mean it understands how, this is in fact the point of having a parent to protect you until you do. A fact that makes the betrayal of abortion only all the more cruel.mainly for the victim but... wadya mean pain less?
according to health dot gov the fetus can feel pain in first trimester... while pro-death lie that a fetus can't feel pain to rely on your idea! "pain perception via via the thalamus as early as 7–8 weeks gestation". https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8935428/
guess what SEA URCHIN animals lack brain but have a nervous system to feel and feel pain.
Maybe because it’s not just her child she’d be preventing from living a life? Women love to forget about their partners. It’s as if women believe the child is hers and only hers. This is why I’m never having kids apart from the fact that I’m asexual. Sorry but women are selfish as f*ck
Irrelevant for me. Most abortions are via pill within 8 weeks of fertilization and not a D&C so question of pain doesn't come up. If the fetus is so far along that pain would be a certainty I would feel remorse but still go through with the procedure because they only do necessary, not elective, abortions in that instance and I'm 💯 for the life and autonomy of the mother. Cue the attacks in 3... 2... 1...
i think the problem really is that we don't know when exactly we should consider a lump of cells to be "human" with the associated legal human rights. there's a bunch of stupid arguments floating in the space of this entire discussion and i think the level this discussion takes place on shows that human minds are still stuck in the stone ages.
The only logical reason I have ever heard for not having an abortion is " I want to have a baby".
who says it does not cause pain. ? How would you like a to have the back of your skull punctured and have your brain sucked out by a vacuum cleaner?
If the fetus is able to survive outside of the womb then that should be the cut off point. It's wrong to kill it after this point. Why? Because its a human life. You created it by having sex but now want to end its life? No. That's wrong.
It is to punish women. Dowry is like selling farm animals. Look at the teeth, untouched vagina, able to breed. That is the reality people see dating..
Because murder is seen as wrong because it's unjust, not because it's violent. Would you not object to someone killing YOU if there was no pain involved?
If you don't want to get pregnant don't have sex. Your poor choices don't give you a free pass for murder.
because many people feel entitled to speak in her name and they care about her conscience... even if no one asked them for...
Because they want to demonstrate allegiance to their political masters.
I get that it is the ending of a human life so I understand the prolife position, but I am an unapologetic eugenecist that believes abortion and/or sterilization should be mandatory for some.
They want to control our bodies like they used to back when we were no better than chattel.
If someone wanted to kill you in a painless way, should we care even though it's painess?
