Can't speak about India since i don't know much about it. But for Turks, as i'm one myself, they probably do it because we are neither fully embraced by the East nor the West. You are not European. But Arabs and Iranians hate you as well. See?

I am annoyed by this too. I’d say it stems from insecurity. They want to be accepted to badly that they embarrassed themselves.
