Have you been summoned for jury duty?

I went to jury duty to serve my summons just a few days ago. I was nervous, but committed to looking and doing my best.

I wore a suit and tie, and I woke up extra early, although admittedly, a bit earlier than I intended, but regardless, I drove from my home in Northeast Houston to between downtown and Central Houston, where I was told to go.

The suit wasn't too uncomfortable, but certainly less functional than my typical attire. Holy cow, was the traffic horrible near the courthouse. I knew Houston is a densely populated area, but I've never seen so many cars in my life.

It was a nightmare to get into the parking garage, it was so bad that staff started letting people enter through the door that said "exit only", to speed up the process. Once i got in, all I had to do was park, and start walking 2 blocks to the location listed.

Once I got in, we simply waited for late stragglers to arrive. Then they started calling jurors by number range, for instance, numbers 3,000-3,600 all come up and be assigned a courtroom number.

However, before my number was called, a long stall campaign was launched, then the lady came back and told us that the plaintiff and defendant's team were negotiating a settlement.

Eventually, she came back and informed us that the two parties reached an agreement, and thus our jury services were no longer necessary, as there wouldn't be a trial. So we were all allowed to leave.
