Question for younger generation Americans: Do you feel enraged or livid over the fact that your tax dollars are going to Social Security?

You can't be pissed off at the boomer's. We didn't set up the Social Security System!

Only people who worked are entitled to their social security benefits. I worked for 30 years, have you? I earned my social security. It was ME that got my ass out of bed everyday and fought the traffic to and from work all those years. I put into the system by working. That's how it was set up.
And yes, boomer's did have 401k's at work when we got older and that program started. And thank God for that because social security money doesn't even pay the rent these days.

We have to supplement our social security money with our 401k money and even that is dwindling away fast because of the bad economy. Our food costs just as much as yours.

I don't know why social security benefits have to end if everyone is working and putting money into it. But there you go again, who set up the system? Our lovely government who spend tax payers money like water.

No. I feel mildly annoyed when I actively am thinking about the fact that my tax dollars are going to that waste, but since there's nothing I can do about it I'm not going to put the energy into being livid about it.

No. Because 401k's weren't really around in the boomers days. However my generation on had 401k's and the social security problem was WELL publicized. If you didn't prepare for it then it's your own fault. Is it fair? No. But there are many things in life that isn't fair. Boomers didn't have smart phones either. Life isn't fair. But you do the best you can with the knowledge and opportunities available to you. If you just worry and wait for someone to level the playing field for you then life is going to pass you by.
