Probably me but I'm a conspiracy theorist and I believe the Israeli government is actually running Hamas and set them up to justify what is happening in Palestine now, which is the long term zionist goal for the last hundred years of the complete removal of non-jews/hebrews from the holy land.
The Palestinians were gaining ground this last 20 years but walked themselves into the Israeli's trap. Democracies can't really invade other countries unless provoked, they need a reason that gives them domestic and international support.
