Rapists, psychologically, understand the difference between right and wrong, however they consciously CHOOSE to allow their urges and desires to control them, and commit the act of rape, sexual assault, harassment, etc. There is no remorse regarding their act, as psychologically speaking - it is motivated by dominance, having power and control over another person for whatever reason.
They are likely to repeat offend, as in a rapists mind, it is all about control and getting what they want, when they want - despite knowing it's wrong, their passion to commit the act of rape is something they choose to ACT on.
Even knowing the legal aspects of their actions, rapists do not let that fear or threat prevent them, nor do they actually take any interest or concern regarding the possible legal outcomes for their actions.

Knowingly acting, knowing the act is wrong, yet still acting on desire and want, that individual has no sense of compassion, empathy, or sense of remorse for other people, or themselves as the rapist likely doesn't fear penalty or legal prosecution, which is why rapist still chooses to commit the ACT.

the vast majority of rapes are done by serial rapists that are generally clinical sociopaths. when they're not they're usually clinical psychopaths, shizophrenics, severely autistic, etc. the vast maj of them can't feel bad cause they're sociopaths who by definition lack empathy. they know what they're doing is sexual assault and that's it bad intellectually, and that's not just something they know but ignore, that's really why they do it. rapists usually are sexual sadists with rape kinks who get off on hurting people for real. now that's in the west but in some other countries you can have more normal dudes who do it because of cultural differences

Who with an intact moral compass would rape someone? Can only imagine one reason and thats when you want to experience what it is like doing something evil. Or perhaps due to extreme hornyness but in the latter part I assume they'd go to a prostitute.

So is the above common? Doubt it. I think regret only happens if its for example on someone you love and you didn't mean to. If they did something so blatently evil for their own gain I think its more likely that they feel empowered by it than remorcefull.

Not a black an white question, cause there's not one classification of rapist. There are pshyco's who will have no remorse. Others who do it in the spur of the moment and will have regrets. There also those in he said she said situations, where consent is disputed. They will probably be in quite a lot of turmoil over their emotions

There had been many studies over this and two most popular interviews has got done on rapists. According to them they never accept they have done rape. They believe they have done sex and there is nothing wrong about it but they deny for using word "rape" for that. And they have their own logic to justify it they have their own beliefs. Some even believe that women do enjoy sex whenever it's done and interpret body reaction as "she wants it she likes it". So for them they have never done rape. And yes so they feel nothing wrong to do it again and if they don't just because of punishment he went he doesn't want to do through that again but if they have not got caught they keep doing it
