Have you ever had someone in your family claim they were a millionaire but could never prove it?

I have a cousin who was married to the guy that invented cell phone towers. He spent the last few years of his life paralyzed after a quad riding accident: the bike he was riding flipped over, fell on him and snapped his neck. After he died, she made it fairly well known that she was a millionaire. However, a few years ago, I needed to borrow a little bit of money to keep from losing my house and, when I asked her for it, she said she didn't have that kind of money to loan me. I mentioned to her that she was a millionaire. She asked where I heard that. I said, "From you!". Several other relatives confirmed this!
Then, there's a guy I went to school with he was a stand-up comedian for a short while and then did a t. v. show called, "Who Wants To Marry A Millionaire?". He was the millionaire but, when all was said & done, he was only a millionaire on paper and wasn't an actual millionaire!
Did you ever have anyone like these people in your family?

No. Never had that but I had a close friend who did. When I started to do dignitary protection work and met some real, true, undoubtedly wealthy people. Not rich, but wealthy. There is a difference.

Rich people like to let you know they have money and talk about their trips, luxuries, and spending almost constantly. They shove their financial status in front of everything from their conversation to attire to insuring they are seen spending it.

They have a pattern of how they are and it’s quickly distinguishable from people pretending to have money who - oddly, feel a need to display their money at every single turn. Brand name everything. New cars constantly. Frivolous expenditures at every turn.

Rich people: sports athletes & performers who make money on a sports contract or record/movie/TV show. They have body guards, are seen vacationing in exclusive resorts, and rent yachts.

Wealthy people: they are the people who own the sports team, production studio, or record label. They can lose half a million in a single day in their portfolios and don’t even worry since they will gain it again next week somewhere else.
They have protection teams, vacation on islands where there are no paparazzi or “normals”, and own yachts. They pay the salary to “the rich” people and view them no differently than a race horse. They are a disposable commodity they are investing in so long as they make a profit. Very, very, few rich people transition themselves into the kind of wealth that’s above them.

Plus, being a millionaire isn’t so unattainable anymore. Heck, if you own a home in any one of a dozen US regions you may be a millionaire and be a cop, school teacher, foreman, fireman, or RN. You can’t even touch a house where I live for under a million. Add a 401K, nice pension, Roth IRA, and a few investments and I know a few people who easily have $2-5 million in assets.

Kinda my wife’s sister married into money, but claims she didn’t. They own three houses and one farm all paid for, I talked to her husband. She has worked at two different colleges full time great pay. My wife's father has paid for everything for her she the youngest in the family. After she married she quit her high paying job and works part time. So she pays the poor card so she can get all her father’s money. He died a while back so now she is waiting for the mother to die.

She just didn’t want to lend you the money. If she was married to the guy who invented cell phone towers, odds are she’s a millionaire many times over.

A million does not buy you what it used to. I thought a million dollars was a lot of money. It buys a modest house where I live.
