When you feel like you’re busting your butt, the employer even says you are, but your pay raise only affords you another tank of gas every week, and you’re already underpaid given the state of the economy… And of course the whole “we don’t want to lose you” BS… if you didn’t, you’d have paid me what I asked for.
That’s the painful truth, these companies just do not have the means or want to pay you a living wage anymore. And it’s like yeah, I still want to quit, maybe even MORE now, thank you. You know, I’m trying so hard to be grateful too, but in this economy, how can you be? I’m almost 34 years old and still have yet to earn a salary that can support a home and family.
Something is very wrong these days.

The fastest way to increase your pay is to constantly look for a new job. You will almost always get more money by changing jobs.
I almost never stopped looking for a job during my working years. I might not have been actively searching, but I at least kept up on things and kept my eye out.
It's better to always look, than to wait until you hate your current job so much that you walk out. Walking out puts too much pressure on you and doesn't put you in a good bargaining position.
Yes. 10 cents is not enough to make me stay.
Feels like a slap in the face more than anything.
