Having an identifiable underlying crime is a necessary foundational component of what they charged Trump with, but they don't have that.

Everyone around you agrees and thinks you're hiding something, even though you've shown that the number you called from is your workplace, your coworker admits that he lets you use his phone to make calls, and not a single person has evidence of you owning any phone besides the one your SO knows about.

One juror can gum up the works, but AIUI it has to be unanimous for either guilty or not guilty verdicts. A hung jury leads to a mistrial and, potentially, a do-over.

I have been on regular juries as well as grand juries. Each take time to review the facts presented and to come to a verdict. If it would have taken only 5 minutes it would have been one of the most corrupt juries ever!

@goaded Grand juries are different. They are run by the prosecution to dig out all the info they can. The members (such as myself) can also ask questions. We all come to conclusions which will determine which parties are sent on to regular trials and what they will be charged with.
With the regular trials, we compare thoughts. Often things are missed by some and their thoughts may be changes by what others noticed. One trial was on an accusation of drunk driving because a cop who arrived after an accident saw a woman walking in what appeared a drunken limp to him. Some believed the cop right away. I noticed that the woman limped getting to the stand and reported that she had a hip injury from an industrial accident. The lawyer the state provided her did not even check her medical history. So we had to talk about the accusation, her current appearance, and the lack of a proper lawyer being provided her. After going over all that we found her not guilty. After the trial was over, I ended up a ways behind her going to the parking lot and she had that exact limp then, so obviously she was innocent of drunken driving.

@Red_Arrow Yes, grand juries are different, but their purpose is still to establish that prosecutions aren't being made for the wrong reasons, like politics or a vendetta, and to determine if there really was a crime committed and there's a reasonable chance the accused did it.

All the five minutes comment is about (I think) is that if everybody on the jury is certain of the defendant's guilt or innocence, there's nothing to deliberate.
