Ketanji Jackson was unable to define woman because she is not a biologist, so obviously people who share her opinion would need to consider the possibility that people who call themself trans are 100% wrong about their gender.

Why does the definition matter when I don't need it for functionality in my life?

A woman is an adult human female.
What is a female? A female is somebody with a chromosome set without a Y or born with a female reproductive system like with ovaries and a womb. If somebody was born with a female reproductive system but go a hysterectomy I would still class them as a female after the surgery because they were born with those organs and the surgery didn’t make them grow a penis or prostate afterwards. So they definitely aren’t male.
