My mother said she'd disown me if I vote for biden. Isn't that a little overboard?

My mom is a trump supporter. Like, a huge trump supporter. She asked me who I'm voting for. Before I answered, she said "you better not vote Democrat". I said "what if I do?". She said that she'd stop talking to me. I'm pretty sure that's what disowning means. I told her that I'm sure as he'll not voting for trump. She said that should for for a third party if im not voting for trump, but I feel that's a waste of a vote, because he's obviously not going to win the election. My mom, and I are very close, so im kind of shocked she'd disown me for exercising my constitutional right. I don't want her to vote for trump, but im not gonna disown her for doing so.

My hunch - and it is only that since I don't know either you or your mother - is that she is just exaggerating for effect and to express her strong support for Mr. Trump and/or her intense dislike of Mr. Biden. (I write this as a Republican who is not a fan of Mr. Trump.)

Gosh knows as a little boy I can remember my mother - a VERY staunch Republican - saying similar things. (I remember - no joke - her cheering on when the police came out to bring the rioters to heel at the 1968 Democratic Party convention.) That was her way.

Yet in less casual and more sober moments you would find that her thinking was more nuanced and well considered. She was not for violence and she was not into disowning family members for her political views. It was just her way of expressing her strong views "on the fly" so to speak.

Again, I don't know you or your mother, but she sounds like my mother and that was - and is - the way my mother talked. Take it with a grain of salt. Though expect to get an earful if you vote for Mr. Biden.

Please make sure you get your news that offers different viewpoints. They both attempt to control the narrative so that only their opinions are wise, desirable, and feasible. Once you realize how badly you are being manipulated, it really starts to piss you off.

Both candidates are FAR from beacons of light and purity. However, when it comes time actually vote, a decision will need to be made. Make an informed one based on who you think will lead the Country in the best direction.

@MrOracle Trump gave out billions of dollars to wealthy companies, including his friends and family, after removing key regulations in the Paycheck Protection program. He is also a convicted felon and has participated in witness tampering which is also highly illegal.

She didn't say she would hate you, disown you, or write you out of her will or anything.

Yeah, what she said was mildly coercive. But all she was really doing was driving home her very strong, emotional feeling about the election.

The belief held by many that voting for a third-party candidate is nothing but a "wasted vote", is a very big part of the problem, and one of the main reasons why you only have a choice between two bad options, the Republicans and the Democrats. If enough people voted for the alternative, you may not see results straight away, but slowly and surely the stranglehold that those two parties (which, in my view, is really just one party anyway, because their policies are so similar, ex. regarding Israel and the Ukraine War) have would slowly weaken.

Asside from me not being sure its a real situation: aren't there laws against that? That is literally a kind of reverse bribery or coercion. Which especially in elections should be highly illegal.
That being said I actually believe trump supporters would do that. But they dont belive in fair elections anyway so what should it matter what you vote?

Also, because Democrats hate the fact that Trump opposes him, they ignore all the constitutional violations that were on blatant display in the trial against Trump. The jurors were probably all liberals, which set bias against Trump from the start.

In a criminal trial, politics have no place, yet all the powerful parties in this case were clearly liberal leaning and ignored MANY established procedures in this case.
