I’ve been watching the classic British film “Threads” and seeing all the devastation and shit. Especially now with the issue with Ukraine and Russia and the Israel and Palestine war, makes the think should we be concerned about a possible nuclear attack?
I'm a prepper so it occurs to me a long with an eventual melt down of a local nuclear power plant. Various possible scenarios earthquakes, solar flares, emps, blizzards, droughts, tidal waves, floods, volcanoes, volcanic winter, asteroid strikes, biological attack, civil unrest, pandemic, economic collapse etc.
I'm not sure the best way to survive nuclear war, if you don't die in the blast and survive the radiation there's still the fallout from radioactive dust that will give you cancers and tumours. Then there's the water supply, agriculture and wildlife poisoned with radiation and of course fallout bloating out the sun giving us a nuclear winter.
My two scenarios are hunkering down at home to survive whatever with enough food, water and other supplies to get by just like with covid and having to bug out which will probably be done firstly by car, motorbike or bicycle or just by foot.
Of course I'm well armed though I think when bugging out sure you can take an AR15 by vehicle or other long arm but if you are going on foot literally running for your life you are going to need to travel light so at most a handgun and a light rucksack.

1 yWhat's the reason to be concerned about a nuclear attack? At this point, a nuclear exchange is most likely inevitable, so there's no use being anxious about it. Now... If my city does not suffer a direct hit, I will likely be able to take part in the global after-war rebuilding effort, shaping the world to come in my favor to some extent. If my city does suffer a direct hit, it's the sweet relief of death for me. Both options are favorable for me given what the world looks like right now, so there's really no need for me to worry. In fact, the Apocalypse itself would be even more welcome for me. So... Yeah... It's 1/10 in my case, and that's only because 0/10 is not available.

If it happens, it happens. But I doubt if it will.
I'm more concerned about the much more likely scenario or the grid going down indefinitely - no electricity, no water, no communications, no fuel, no police or fire protection. I give than one a 7 or 8.00 Reply- 6.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
1 yTBH, nuclear war is not something I think about. I know it's a possibility, maybe use of localized tactical nukes, but I don't think a global nuclear war will happen,. If it does, there's not much we normal people can do about it.
Since the question asks for a number... I'll give it a TWO (2).
00 Reply Very. I have never seen it like this, I don't think people realize how close to it we're getting. The US just authorized shooting US missiles into Russia, and the Russians have been saying very clearly "you do this, you keep attacking us and we will use every means of retaliation".
Professor Jeffrey Sachs: Why does the west hate Russia?00 ReplyI'm 1 on the scale. I was 3 when I heard Joe Biden won the election a couple of years back. "Wow... They gave power of nuclear weapons to an old fart with Alzheimers" was my litteral thought.
Overall I'm very confident nuclear weapons works wonderfully as a deterrent. Nobody want to fire them fearing the inevitable retaliation.

Anyway, our government doesn't have a pair of balls between any of them, and Putin knows it. Russia could expel its entire nuclear arsenal on us, and there's not a damn thing our government would do about it00 Reply
1 yWhat if a Nuclear War is part of the End Times the Bible warns us about? that doesn’t seem outlandish to me at all

Good Sir, I'm already fine with a nuclear war. Please do not make me go yearning for it...

@CalmUntilAbused what are you talking about?

@DaBiggestBird What I'm talking about is that the world is such a hellhole at the moment that a nuclear war might be considered an acceptable way to open people's eyes to this fact and urge them to make it right, even more so since I'm powerless to avert such a war, even if I want to - thus I'm "fine" with it.
However, if a nuclear war was to lead to the biblical Apocalypse, I'd wish for it to happen as soon as possible, as the biblical Apocalypse will sort out the mess humanity makes once and for all. And yes, I do realize me being this merciless might lead to me ending up in hell instead of heaven, but at this point the sheer amount of far worse, far more merciless evil in our world that absolutely must be punished this way or another is too overwhelming for me to care about myself. I mean... If I live through the Apocalypse and end up in hell, I might not even notice it until I realize that I can no longer die to set myself free from the torment (which might even be a saving grace for me in the eyes of God Almighty, even if it's just a tiny shred of hope). - 1 y

I've been waiting for nuclear war my entire life, but I'm still alive and entirely radiation-free.00 Reply925 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Between Putin and the idiot in North Korea it sounds like things are ratcheting up a bit. Let's hope common sense prevails
