Itis a symptom of life in America. You do not see this in other countries. Americans are encouraged to act counter to what thousand's of years of evolution has dictated.

Not just the US though. Suicide has been suggested to be a problem born of privilege. Lesser developed countries in which people literally struggle to survive don’t have suicide rates near the more developed nations. But that’s not what i’m asking. I just found it refreshing that someone could talk about suicide without describing victims as “selfish”.

@chazmatazz269 It is harder for the people left behind and it might make people angry that their loved one killed themself. There was a guy whose girlfriend that he met in a mental hospital that was encouraged by his girlfriend to kill himself. She was charged and did some jail time. The guy's parents were naturally sad. The girlfriend had mental issues herself and understood what he was going through and knew that he was in pain and that ending his life was his only way to end the pain.

If you’re referring to the Carter-Roy case, i’m familiar. I watched the documentary and the dramatization. I also read several articles online.
I understand that it is difficult dealing with the loss of a relative or close friend, but my experience suggests that people who call suicide victims “selfish” are projecting in order to deflect their own responsibility. It’s extremely rare for suicide to come out of nowhere. People who suffer from mental and emotional disorders that lead to such measures are almost always screaming for help weeks, months or even years before they finally give up. When they’re rejected or ignored by the people who are supposed to love them most, and they give up, we’re meant to blame the victim? Fuck that. If they REALLY cared, they would have done more to prevent it. Most don’t. So they resort to projecting selfishness on people who were tortured beyond their ability to save themselves.
