Do you care about monarchy or do you like monarchy in your country?

And I don't mean butterflies monarchs lol. I mean kings, queens. In my country, it's reigned over by a King who lives in the UK.

Once upon a time my country had a monarch who gave power to a dictator that brought us to a devastating war.
Our people at the end of war voted to make our country a republic so the king exiled himself, and his actual heir is registered as an homicidal and violent.


To answer you, no, I don’t like monarchy, especially in my country. It’s an old fashioned form of government that gives too much power to the monarch.
On the other hand I can understand that monarchy can create some form of stability, if there’s a constitutional monarchy like in UK or Netherland, where king has more a representative role and guarantees the continuity of the State regardless the various governments ruling over time.

It’s actually not. The royal family is just a figurehead at this point. They hold no more sway over legislation or the judicial process than any other wealthy and famous twat. Unfortunately that actually goes a fair distance with the executive branch in the US, and i bet the UK isn’t that different.

In Canada the head of state is still technically the King... but I think its time to change that. The Monarchy has no real significance in Canada anymore... except historically.

As someone who lives in a democracy, with ancestors from another (now) democracy, BOTH of which had to kick those inbred degenerates out, I'm opposed to it.

The UK is, in almost every practical sense, a democracy now, and far better for it, but it DOES seem kind of strange to hold on to an institution that doesn't serve its only purpose (concentrating power to be more efficient in governing). You've kept a bad thing and gotten rid of the benefits it could provide- but also most of the negative things it provides, for no real reason other than tradition. It's a very English way of doing things.
