Not sure what you mean. If you mean that couples should "have a psychoanalysis" prior to considering being deemed a legal guardian or parent, then, sure, however, it doesn't guarantee that either parent can parent or is safe. It's an extra step.

Anything to do with kids, turns me form a libertarian to a full-on statist. I'm full-blown socialist when it comes to children. And yes, I would be fine with granting the power to the State, in theory. But I would never actually support it, because they would just turn it into a program to weed out people who disagree with the rulers' ideologies.

Who do you think should get to decide what is or isn't sane? And even if you trust a person or political group now to make that criteria, do you trust that whatever government is in control of that process will never change into something corrupt?
