The U. S. Senate Armed Services Committee's intends to require women to register for Selective Service as part of the National Defense Authorization Act for FY25
Is this good idea?
Me personally I love it, Equal rights.

Slavery is never a good thing. Nor would this be a good thing, since it's being snuck in amidst many parts of a much larger bill.
Fortunately, it's not going to pass. Democrats have tried this many, many times, and it NEVER passes, because Republicans are unwilling to violate traditionalism to that extent. I suppose there's something honest about not even pretending to want equality.
The ideal proceeding would be the Supreme Court actually showing an ounce of pattern recognition (and backbone, and LOYALTY TO THE FUCKING CONSTITUTION) for a change, and hearing NCFM's case. There are then three possible outcomes:
1. the court rules it's a fourteenth Amendment violation, and women become thralls as well. This would, in modern political culture, NOT stand, and the SS would be disbanded by Congressional action.
2. the court rules it's a fourteenth AND thirteenth Amendment violation, and the SS is disbanded by Court action.
3. the court rules it's NOT a fourteenth Amendment violation, which would mean, as per Arver Vs United States, that women aren't citizens. I don't think I have to specify what would follow from that.
This all could've been over and done with years ago, but then Mr. Angelucci got murdered (R. I. P.), and then Biden got elected, and Russia invaded Ukraine, and now the Court is more unwilling than ever to do its job.
It’s just a proposal. It hasn’t even been approved for a vote, let alone voted on. It will not pass. This isn’t the first time someone has proposed requiring women to register for the draft. Obviously it has never passed and it never will. Despite what they claim, even feminists don’t really want equality because that would be the real result. Women having to do the difficult, dirty, dangerous and deadly tasks necessary to keep this country functioning, just like men have been doing without fail and without complaint, for centuries. So the left doesn’t want it. The right wouldn’t put this on women even temporarily just to teach them the real meaning of equality. So who actually supports this? Literally nobody. It’s a token that the occasional lefty throws in every now and again to prove how “progressive” they are. Only to turn around and strike it themselves while claiming that their opponents did it, or literally voting down their own bill. No joke. It’s a farce.
I don't want that but then if we lived in a free country, no one would be required to register.

If a person understands the various roles with in a modern armed forces, then the exclusion of women was fairly stupid, nothing to do with equality, just plain stupid. Eventually the stupid people were over ruled. This has been festering away since around late 80’s when someone realised the health support was a glaring omission.
I support this. I don't support the idea of women in combat roles. But there are so many other support roles that women can fill that I think this is a good idea.
Yeah why not?
