Is it possible to be a socialist and join real estate?

I am feeling skeptical of my dad. He still has an old Mercedes, he is now extremely outspoken against capitalism, he is planning to vote third party (i. e. NOT Biden or Trump), yet he wants to join real estate (where he already got certified and passed all the tests). Is it possible?

No. It’s not. That’s pure hypocrisy, as most self-avowed socialists eventually discover.


Socialism says we shall provide them a home, not a right to ownership. Make no mistake - socialism and capitalism are not compatible systems since at some point socialism demands more from the people who can provide than they can give to a population which prefers to receive than contribute. The only way socialism/capitalism has worked thus far is in China. Their experiment in receiving the stable and highly profitable gem that was Hong Kong shows there can be no harmonic balance between the two and eventually the necessary control and government authority of socialism becomes oppressive to maintain the necessary level of social control.


A government that can give you everything can equally take everything.

Maybe not in a black and white sense, but yes he can be a socialist and join real estate. It's like how certain people act differently at church from their everyday lives. They still believe in God and his commandments, but they might not zealously follow his teachings when they are alone

Exactly. I don’t think working in real estate is anti socialist in most cases, but doing capitalist things because you live in a capitalist system doesn’t make you a capitalist

Socialism is a system of government and economic in which major communal resources and the means of production are owned by the government/people. Depending on the kind of socialist ideology he follows, this could not conflict with his values, for example, if he were a social democrat. When people says that the government should own private property, they mean it should own things that create capital as its primary purpose, for example, an apartment building or factory. Your personal home is not capital and helping someone sell it isn’t capitalism in most cases. Selling things is not capitalism, socialists still have commerce

Burnie Sanders is a big socialist but he had no problem taking millions of dollars for his book deal and owning 3 homes.
People who are in love with socialism, are ok with everyone else living under socialism but not really themselves.

Take your age…. Multiply it by 2 and add a few more and that’s how many countries I have been to. I have seen it all.
And I am very aware that you have seen nothing in your 19 years but a classroom with some liberal teacher telling how wonderful socialism is.
