Why do we have leaders?

Why do we have leaders, mainly governmental, including the president

A society needs leadership. There's a difference between leaders and politicians.

A century ago and before that we elected leaders because they genuinely had the heart to do what was best for the people that elected them.

John Quincy Adams was a brilliant example. He served as President then after his time was over went back to general government. The best example of his compassion is his passionate involvement for the Africans of the Amistad vessel that helped secure their freedom and return home.

Modern politicians aren't leaders. They're not representative of the people they supposedly serve. Churchill was probably the last British PM who had any genuine experience outside politics that gave him an idea of what life for the people was like. JFK was probably the last US President of that ilk as well.

A country needs a government of some description to operate as a country, without one it would be pretty much anarchy. They put in place policies that govern our lives. Ideally we elect them and if we don’t like them, then we elect someone different.

Humans are lost without a shepherd, just like sheeps. We're doomed if everything is allowed.

Because you need a good leader to keep things together. If you dont things fall apart and a power vacuum is created. Usually the alternatives that come out of such a power vacuum are much worse.

Because if we didn't, we would instead have strongmen who enforced their will on the world with NO regard for fairness or justice.
