America has a far better loss exchange ratio in war than that. A 3:1 troop ratio is based on attacking a defended position so I see where he's spit balling from, but Americans aren't Ukrainians... You're talking about the United States of America. Put some respect on that name. That said, America should not be going to war with Russia and should have never supported Ukraine at all. Only the Socialist want America and Russia to fight each other, because both America and Russia are both working to take out the Socialist.
The only Americans that want war with Russia are the idiots selling weapons to the government and their idiot puppets in the government.

We would gain nothing of value from invading Russia that would be worth the effort.
If we want to invade anther country theses united States should roll over and conquer Canada instead.
Canada has everything Russia without the drawbacks of being Canada after all:
1: Almost doesn't have an army.
2: Has no Nuclear weapons.
3: Actually poses a real threat to Americans in North America as a future Islamic state and entry point for criminal.
4: Has all the same resources as Russia
5: the land is actually next door so it would be inexpensive to exploit said resources, conduct an occupation.
6: We can make the same historical argument Putin did about annexing Ukraine, given our history with Canada and their mention in the Articles of Confederation & prior relationship. Along the same lines as made by Lincoln's SCOTUS in Texas vs. White.
Russia on the other hand doesn't have any of those advantages. Instead we would have to go to the other side of the world to try and control 147 million very forign people spread out over 6,601,670 sq mi of mostly inhospitable hostile territory.
Just about all of which is too remote to be worth the occupation beyond keeping it from being used to threaten us in the few valuable parts of Russia.
Think of Afghanistan, sooner or later your going to realize your wasting your money fighting over a sand hill that isn't worth anything close to what your spending to try and 'control' it.
It's a winnable defensive war. Unlike the war on terrorism.
It does suck being the greatest country to ever exist and historically putting our dicks in every global plate.
The only worse outcome is if we don't follow through. Like NATO kicks the USA out and puts Russia and China in charge, and they invade the United States of America.
That is basically the only option for smaller countries if we don't follow through with all the promises the USA has made. Who can blame them?
Bold of you to assume a swift victory is a priority for our leadership... It hasn't been for decades.
The 3:1 ratio is not actually that cut and dry, but it's a retard-proof rule of thumb that NATO militaries teach troops in basic training that is based on experiences fighting in Europe during WW2. You have to keep in mind however that when you dig into the weeds, there's a lot more to it than raw numbers because rifles and machine guns are not weighed the same, a tank and an artillery gun are not weighed the same, air support (and air defense) plays a huge role, and there are a multitude of force multipliers to consider.
If a serious war broke out between nuclear powers, a draft to rapidly grow the military ranks would be the least of anyone's worries...
It's completely hypothetical, and just one guy's opinion. So it's basically meaningless.
Troops are for "mopping up" anyway. It can be long and drawn out, but the war would be well under way, and maybe even have the outcome determined before troops hit the ground in force.
The problem with invading Russia is it's vast size. Similar to the US, it's the people who will really pose the problem. The Russian people are spread over vast distances, and there is no way to cover that much territory with any reasonable size ground force.
Pitching to invade Russia or China would be impossibly stupid and I don't see how any sane person could support it. Even the most greedy, warmongering politician.
I think the Russian army has lost a lot of credibility in the Ukraine war and is not the juggernaut it was thought to be.
Russia was supposed to win that in days, but now it's struggling after years.
The best policies are ones that keep us out of wars. President Trump pioneered the most brilliant of these strategies ever devised. He capitalized an America's overwhelmingly superior economic power and influence to manipulate adversaries in America's interest without putting our military at risk.
He was the only president in the last half century who did not get America into any new wars. It was perhaps the most brilliant foreign policy innovation in modern history. The world reached an unprecedented level of peace under his leadership.
The American public should be thinking about this, and about how to cast a sensible vote, instead of buying this business about a draft and tens or hundreds of thousands of dead young men to fight an unnecessary war.
No one except for possibly China could successfully invade Russia (and that's if they can keep their supply lines intact, a really big if).
The idea of the US invading Russia is beyond insane, as is the idea that the military could draft and train that many young men successfully and use them to invade faraway Russia. And it's not like NATO countries will risk Russian nuclear attacks by letting the US use their countries to attack Russia.
@Twalli: Don't make me laugh (I've served in the northern part of South Korea, so I know something about winter operations). It's nothing like hosting Olympic games. And you do know that relatively few US soldiers aren't from places where winters are cold like in Russia right? Add Russia's huge distances and robust air defenses and you have a recipe for failure.
@Twalli: Last I looked Karelia is no longer part of Finland, and Russia itself isn't any smaller than it was decades ago. But keep telling yourself we wouldn't be disadvantaged fighting a war in the winter in huge Russia against the local populace.
Point is, some conventional wars just won't happen. The Russians aren't going to be invading Alaska either, for example.
@Twalli: It's their country, so of course they'd have the advantage. Much like the Taliban did in Afghanistan, where I might remind you, we didn't win.
I don't know if cold weather training is still done by the military, but it was very good. Nonetheless, it's not easy fighting in very cold temperatures, especially with extended supply lines that would be subject to missile and drone attacks.
No, and the US is not going to invade Russia. That statement was probably made as part of the military's war games, where they look at every possible contingency, no matter how improbable it might be. I'm sure Russia and China have said similar things about invading the US.
I don't. The US shouldn't be involved in this matter.
And before some idiot comes out and say that I am some sort of lapdog for Putin or some dumb shit like that, I think both Putin and Zelenskyy are scumbags that imprison their dissidents so that they "die of illness." I wouldn't in good conscience willingly fight for either of them.
This is between them. I'd rather these two countries not fight but two leaders engaging in petty pissing contests that kill numerous amounts of people is a fact of life.
You do realise that Russia also has millions of civilians it could enlist. Then if China joined them millions more.
Truth is huge numbers on both sides would die for nothing then the nukes would start flying.
I don't support a draft and I think invading Russia is the dumbest idea ever. Even being hostile toward Russia is stupid. If not for the U. S. and Britain, there wouldn't have even been a war in Ukraine.

^^ that's how I feel.
Even of us black folk?
@handsomelad70 I don't know man I think you guys have had enough of that bullshit in recent years.. no?
We've had enough othering from the Trumpist right, for sure.
No Trump actually has a really good record with black people. You should look at Joe Biden and his racial jungle comment, how he says if you don't know to vote for him you ain't black and other shit like that. He also has a record as being a segregationist.
The guy has been a politician for 50 years and has not been kind to gay people, blacks and so on. He's a piece of shit and I really laugh to think that people envision him as some model liberal when he's anything but.
There is talk that they will also be drafting women. I guess if women want equality with men, then this will be inevitable. Right now, a lot of countries have women that are required to serve in the military, Israel being one of them. We just don't have enough soldiers to have a war right now. Who thinks the illegals should serve? Nothing like giving the Chinese and Venezuelan men military weapons. 😯🙄
The US has 1,328,000 active and 799,500 reserve personal that are volunteer well trained professionals. The Russians have 2.6 million mostly conscripts that gives the us a 10-1 advantage as we saw in iraq. But strategically it would be insane to invade Iraq besides nuclear missiles the cost in blood and treasure aline even with a victory would be too much.
If Russia attacked the US Mainland much like WWII’s bombing of Pearl Harbor from the Japanese got us into fighting in the European Front also in The Pacific.
There will be no invasion of Russia or push in Ukraine without that piece of the puzzle.
Russia might be weak conventionally but I assure Colonel Douglas Macgregor that an invasion on Russian soil will trigger nuclear alpha strike on high priority targets in EU and US, what will lead defacto to nuclear war. I suppose they need those 1,5 million forced conscripts to defend Israel.
Bringing back the draft would be a tough sell. Nobody wants to see their kids come home in a body bag. Especially when the guy that got us in this jackpot stands there checking his watch.
Is there a serious proposal for the US to invade Russia? Has anybody seriously proposed invading Russia after Napoleon and Hitler?
I thought the current plan was to sanction them back into the stone age without firing a shot.
It also seems that they are likely to have a famine due to allocating too much resources to invading Ukraine and not enough to producing food.
Why should we invade Russia in the first place?
Just an historical information, when USSR whas entering in Romania 1944 they whas fighting with 12 tanks vs 1.
As a victim of Russian Empire and USSR, i will encourage even bigger number, i will like the same ratio like they did to us, at last 10 NATO vs 1 Russian.
Americans are basically posers.
They will only join in against an ''enemy'' that's to weak to win.
Anyhow: U. S. commerce will gladly take one other chance to beat a big profit out of such a conflict.
I'll be in a bunker eating canned food. I guess I was raised to believe in Darwin's theories, so yeah, both governments could kiss my ass at that point.
This is a very naive number, you'll need a lot more and why not just let Russia alone?
There are 10 plus millions of illegal people in the United States. Draft them to let them show their allegiance to the country that took them in from being persecuted. From whence they came.
That's not going to happen. Where did you get such a ridiculous idea?
Crack, coke, meth and corn liquor.
The USA will never "defeat" Russia. And the more of a threat or nuisance we become to Russia, the quicker that Russia will vaporize us. We need to SERIOUSLY BACK OFF
Putting boots on the ground in Russia would be pointless. If you beat them in a ground war they would just nuke everything.
Of course they do Americans love this shit.
The draft has never stopped since they hang a sign and post all over the media to join the Army.
A naval blockade would put Russia in a pretty bad situation.
Not to mention that in said scenario they would be fighting a whole bunch of other countries as well.
Like just FDF wartime strength would be 280K.
This is assuming a ground assault is the primary tactic, I'm not sure if that would be the case.
The US has no plans to invade Russia. Defense and economic isolation is our go-to strategy
If it came to that yes I would support it. I served and did my time
Probably, they don't give a fuck unless it affects them personally.
Isn't sending actual humans to war a bit of a 20th Century (and before) thing? There are drones and shit now.
I was worried about this type of thing but I recently saw some documentarys about British submarines and now I understand why we might not need many troops they are a ridiculous display of power
We will never invade Russia. Ask Hitler and Napoléon.
They are not bringing back the draft.
They are only making selective service an automatic sign up at 18, instead of voluntarily.
More fear porn from the military industrial complex.
Why do we have to invade Russia?
Take all the liberals first.
A draft is not negotiable.
