Is societal decline happening in Western countries despite modern luxuries and modern bliss?

Aka , life has never been better, technology, smart phones, computers, hygiene, ease of cities and automobiles and airplanes and all the modern luxuries of clean western countries. Yet all this and yet I often read or hear doomsday sensationalism in media or news stories always putting morale down *aka societal morale down, not mine personally I'm always upbeat* lol - are we in broader societal decline or are puppet masters who push and promote for that vibe? I for one didn't mind the Covid lockdown.

Sort of. We have been letting the rich conspire with politicians to slowly erode our privileges and rights for profit. They've been at this since the beginning but it all came crashing down with the great depression leading to the new deal. That period of intense public investment resulted in more and faster advancement than the world has otherwise seen. And that elite class has been trying tirelessly to thwart it despite the success it has brought us all, because they enjoyed the control they had when everyone had to come to them for the means to survive.
