If you’re a doctor, or working in the medical field, why do you ignore your patients?

I’m just curious here. People come to you for help and you ignore them. They depend on you and trust you to take care of them. But, you won’t. And then you charge your patients thousands of dollars for a job you didn’t do. So why should anyone trust your ability to help people when you won’t?

I’m not a doctor but I do study the medical field a bit and putting myself in their shoes the small amount that I can, I think it must be exhausting dealing with the public.

people have all sorts of questions and they don’t really know enough to have an intelligent conversation. Sometimes a doctor is repeating information they learned a decade ago, they might have read conflicting studies on any number of topics and everything is a liability for them.

a doctor picks up the phone and it could be a 10 minute convo or a 12 hour ordeal right before they’re about to take out they’re ex because she gave him “one more chance”

I’ve seen people be completely unsympathetic to these things and they usually think they’re great people. And those types can cause a lot of problems for you when they start playing victim. Especially if they figure out how to file a complaint with the medical board

They're overworked, stressed to hell, exhausted, likely had to tell people that day that their loved one is dead etc.

I'm not in medical but I'm friends with a nurse, and that shit is emotionally draining and soul sucking. Plus the fees and expenses are usually because of dealing with insurance. It's not entirely the hospitals fault and it sure isn't the doctors fault.

My doctor doesn’t ignore me, he just tells me to take off my clothes and he examines me

A lot of times the doctor is doing his job but it is the office staff that drops the ball. They do not return phone calls , fail to follow up with patients and treat patients badly.

I’ve heard stories but one example would be my best friend. She has PCOS and throughout her whole life she was overlooked.

In the U. S? That's not possible. If one doctor ignored or overlooked someone there would be 100 others who would take care of them. Just walk into any emergency room.

Thankfully she found someone that actually cared. But, finding a doctor who actually cares is rare. Medical in the US is absolute garbage.
