I usually do not watch much of it but the lineup of speakers like the Gold Star families of the 13 servicemen that were killed in Afghanistan and Madelene Brame whose war veteran son was murdered in New York City by four career criminals who were consequently let go by DA Alvin Bragg along with Anne Fundner whose teenage son overdosed on Fentanyl and Trent Conaway , Mayor of East Palestine. Ohio who all had stories of how the Biden administration had done irreparable harm on their lives. My wife was in tears when she heard how people have been killed by Biden's failure to keep them safe and how President Trump's policies provided safety and Law and Order.

Tonite is the last day of the convention and President Trump is expected to close it out with a speech. It will be interesting what he has to say, post assassination attempt.

I only watched Vivek Ramaswami’s and Trump’s speeches online. I thought Vivek’s was absolutely beautiful, and as much as I fckn’ hate Trump, I thought his speech was extremely measured. I expected to hear him bloviating “it was the biggest bullet ever fired from a gun, some people are saying that it was technically a cannon ball. It’s true! The doctors told me that it was a miracle I’m still alive. They said ‘sir, you might just be a god, because there’s no way a mere mortal could have survived I direct strike to the skull with a precision guided missile, but that’s what happened, and here you are! That’ It’s all true, people are saying that…” But instead he gave a very measured (by Trumpian standards) speech, and really made an effort to try to bring the nation together, and tamp down the inflammatory rhetoric on both sides. Good for him!

There was so much more to this than the usual boring politics that is what most political conventions are. All the guests known as EDAs (Every Day Americans) had my wife in tears. Trump made an amazing speech and I do not know if it was a near death experience or just the way the country has been driven into the ground for the last 3 and a half years but he gave a different sort od speech where he realized that a president should nob act like a game show host.

Yeah, my thesis advisor told me that he (Trump) threw his speech away, and wanted a new one after the assassination attempt. We sat and discussed the effects of a near death experience, and how it might affect him. Neither one of us can stand Trump, but we both figured he would either be a changed man, or he would double down on the bombastic bullshit! Thankfully he seems to have gotten the point that fiery rhetoric, will eventually lead to someone taking a shot!

My dad was telling me that when he was a kid in England (about 10) he was so terrified that the world was going to end when Regan was elected, because he had been portrayed in such a negative light by the media. Less than two months after he was sworn in, someone took a shot at him! Regan turned out to be one of the best presidents in US history, and was so popular at the time, he won a 49-State landslide in ’84!

If Trump truly has changed, I hope he can bring the country together! However I still despise politics, as in I really hate the subject! When I was studying prefixes and suffixes in 4th or 5th grade, my mom was quizzing me. Then she asked me “politics”. Obviously it wasn't on my list so I had no idea. She quipped back "Polly is the latin meaning many, and ticks are mindless blood-sucking parasites… Politics!"

I do not talk about this much because it sounds crazy but I could not wonder if he is experiencing the same thing I did all those years ago.

Yes, for those of us that lost love one's that were murdered by the CRC say our loved ones overdose sounds like they overdosed themselves. That's so wrong.

I've never cared about politics enough to watch things like that. I saw one Obama SotU address, and one Trump one, but that's because someone else had them on. Pretty interesting, but also goofy with all the grandstanding and virtue signalling. I'm sure that exactly how the RNC/DNC stuff is looking now too.

My limit is usually watching the debates, but honestly I did that more when I was a kid with my parents. Now the debates are just a bit depressing given the options in my opinion. Couldn't get through the one this year, it was just too rough
