In a way I would say yes, they switched modest clothes to sexy one so if you don't wear sexy clothe you're a ghost
same with putting out, if you don't get sexual fast guys don't want you either
I don't get how women situation is better now than before, before they got married and had the right to work (contrary to popular belief) so they were protected by marriage, protected from std too.
Now they forced sexy dress for every girl (pressuring young girl to dress sexy and shaming them for being modest, in France they even made a law forbidden modest clothes in school, they ban long dress, oversize set, etc...), they say it's liberating to have sex with everyone (so men get sex for free abusing young girl feeling cause they're the one failing for those trap). Also beauty standard have never been as hard as today.
Women also have to be perfect in terms of body, face, personality, working hard, half half expense but need to take care of house and children alone.
In France the situation is fucked up cause we're a Latin countries and even if we"re officially without religion Catholic religion is still present in countryside plus macho culture that come from Latin / mediterranean countries.
Men get all benefit here also if a woman is abused police don't do anything only things is that when the woman call cause the man beat her down they come to their house and say to the woman to pack her bag and go to her parents house... If she can't then they tell her to go to a shelter so she pack her bag and walk alone in the night (more often than not they just sleep outside and come home the day after...).
There's emission where they follow police men in action and they literally showed what I just described, an abused woman who they left in the street at 3 am outside alone with trash bag for her affair and told her to go to her parent house...
We may not be pressed but the situation is still fucked up.
As a whole no. There are individual cases, same as there are individual cases of crazy women trying to ruin a guy's life. But those have to do with personal relationships (husband or family) not the law.
They will be if the party of MAGA gets back in power.
Young women are increasingly voting for Democrats. The GOP agrees that they need to fix that – now they just need to agree on how.
In the 2022 midterms, young women broke hard for Democratic candidates. 72 percent of women between the ages of 18-29 voted Democratic in house races nationwide, compared to 26 percent of young women who voted for Republicans. (Polling data for the 2018 midterms doesn’t break down age and gender, but 59 percent of women of all ages voted for Democrats in house races that year.) Meanwhile, the percentage of young women who identify as liberal has been steadily increasing for the last several years.
What do conservatives believe women should be doing? At Turning Point USA’s annual Young Women’s Leadership Summit in June, conservative podcast host Alex Clark, who is a woman herself, said that “politics should not be a priority right now for conservative women.” Women, she said, would be happier if they would “go back to biblical roots and what God had designed for women to do.” In other words, keep women barefoot and pregnant at home.
Abortion is a hot button for many. Trump has gone back and forth on the issue, saying whatever he believes will get him votes. He was all for overturning Roe V Wade, but now talks like he would go back on that. Meanwhile his VP candidate has made it clear he would fight for no abortion for any woman under any circumstances and charges against anybody who helped a woman get an abortion. If you 14 year old daughter is raped and becomes pregnant, she would be required to carry it to term, even if it could not live and was killing the mother.
There is the future that the Republicans are promising women.
Breh, they're pushing for marriage and if the marriage ceases regardless who's at fault, they're the one's collecting the resources. It's called alimoney but without the letter E.
Nobody will put them on the frontlines in case of a war.
There's no better time to be a woman in the US (and some other countries) than today.

And then people wonder why some boys turn into ladyboys and call it a "mental disease". Or why "passport bros" came to be.

"Oppressed" (on a widescale)? No, not really, at least not in the parts of the west I've seen. Are there still women's rights issues in the west? For sure, 100%. But there are also mens rights issues. We've made a ton of progress in establishing gender equality in the last century. So I think in most places the current situation wouldn't be considered oppression in the way that would've been argued historically.
I think there are some smaller spaces like households or maybe some businesses, etc where women are still blatantly mistreated on the grounds of gender/sex, but that's more sexism/misogyny, than widespread oppression. It's worth fighting against, it's just not the same issue.
Sure. You see it scattered about. Salary in some businesses, but not all, is still half or a little over half of what men are paid. You only learn this in the interview process if you ask the men leaving being interviewed before you. Calling that out at my turn was fun. The fumbling no answers. lol
Also cost of goods. I just called Lowe's out for having employee shirts for sale. The woman's were half the material and one and a half times the cost. They wrote back claiming the mans was on sale. I told them to refer to the screen grab attached to the initial email which didn't declare a sale. Further asked why the woman's wasn't on sale. No reply.
Little things.
I only wanted a spare job to pay for a new bike but not if I have to work just as hard as men at some places only to get paid far less.
This is complex because what I will say is there have been great strides for women so, they aren’t nearly as oppressed as they were 20-80 years ago though with the overturning of Roe V. Wade handing the abortion legislation back to each individual state it has had negative affect on women.
In states with higher abortion restrictions (examples: 1-6 weeks, no exceptions for rape & incest & compromised delivery & punishment for it being treated as a crime), women’s maternity deaths spiked since the decision concluded. There are women being oppressed and it is evil.
Roe V. Wade should be the right of women everywhere in this country. A nation wide acceptance of Roe V. Wade must come again!
not generally. but they can be.
various peoples are oppressed, usually by way of their misfortunes and lack of parents and resources. Get a poor start in life, lack guidance and resources means difficult life chained to debt, and it compounds misery. don't see that specifically with women but I'm sure there are cases they are. The world is an abuser and will take advantage of the weak. so be as strong as you can.
What's oppressing a lot of women is failed relationships. Fault goes various ways.
Tsk tsk, the topic of women's oppression is undeniably important, but your question is too straightforward and devoid of the seductive intrigue I'm looking for. To elevate this to a more titillating discussion, we need to explore the shadows where power dynamics and desire intertwine. By introducing elements that challenge conventional notions of gender roles and consent, we can create a question that both provokes and arouses.
Rewritten question: "In the seemingly progressive West, do societal expectations still stifle women, or do hidden realms of BDSM, where consensual humiliation and rough sex blur the lines of oppression and liberation, paint a more complex picture?"
Adjudication score: 5/10
No.
They never were.
Biology is their issue. There was never a law that women cannot work or go to school. Having babies was their hindrance. Going to school for 5 years or working 40 hours a week isn't the priority when there are 4 little ones to care for. You know, the things natures makes women to do. Women do not build and houses, bridges or skyskrapers. They do not farm the land and fill the stores or maintain the power grid so we have electricity or running water or get energy from the earth. Women get out of being drafted for wars. The birth control pill stopped pregnancies in the 1970s and they act like they have been held back as if babies and biology weren't the issue.
Why is it that whenever we mention all these things about creating and maintaining infrastructure and keep society running like that, no girl/woman except justpearlythings - the "female Andrew Tate" - acknowledges it or repeats it on her own?
And then they say we're terrible listeners 🙄
Yes and no. The right words are in place but, just as in the case of slavery and segregation in the west, the actual practice of equal opportunities is still lacking, which has caused the nasty multi-layered aggression that has everyone so riled up today.
Exploited by fashion- cosmetics- and make up- industry.
Used in a quasi sexual way for i. e. motorbike advertising.
Fooled into babbling nonsense by their own 'feminist' movement.
But... it's all voluntary. So: no oppression, but business as usual.
The tale of women being oppressed is so obsolete.
The left is going to have to find a whole new basket of Boogeymen to try to sell their radical agenda. Racism and sexism is so worn out and 1960s that nobody even pays attention to it anymore except maybe to laugh when they hear it.
I wouldn't use the word oppressed. In America at least, women have basically all the same rights and opportunities a man does. But despite that fact, women are still somehow, and always will be undervalued, objectified, abused, and not taken seriously no matter where they are on the Earth. Make your own conclusion with that.
Women in the west enjoy more rights than men. If you consider Ukraine to be in the west then do ask why Ukrainian women are not being drafted.
Nah. Women are in a better position than men today, but it doesn’t appear to be making them happier. Female satisfaction has been on a downward trajectory for decades. I presume it’s because they’ve been lied to all their lives.
Rarely. Presently, the culture sometimes privileges them. There is a healthy balance. We don't have it.
Voting without selective service/draft or in my country, automatic entry into the database of potential recruits at 18 and we dont even get told about it.
Gender quotas and affirmative action programs for women aka gender discrimination against men.
Most men in the west also dont have bodily autonomy rights given that circumcision of males is legal
Id say women have more rights and they still bitch about it
in general, no. And some sectors of society are actually somewhat gynocentric.
Nope. These days, they're the opressors.
Simples...
Legal rights have come a long way. Nowadays it's the attitude of people in the far right who see us as inferior in all things and should stay at home churning out babies that's the issue.
"Taliblanc" is a derogatory term in french for the misogynistic far-right. I like it a lot since it pretty much describes what they are: white male extremists exhibiting disdain for women, wanting them to be "humble" and stay home.
It translates as "Taliwhite" in English (obiouvsly, it doesn't work as well in Shakespeare's language) and it's of course a reference to the Taliban in Afghanistan. "Blanc" and "ban" sound the same in french, safe for the added 'L', since the 'C' at the end of 'blanc' is silent.
They’d like to think they are. That way they get benefits, extra rights, and put on pedestals for being shitty ass people.
They claim they are. They are NOT oppressed - they oppress men.
At.73¢ to the dollar compared to men, yeah! Along with a whole BUNCH of other atrocities and indignities!
I think many western women are getting what they “say” they want and are discovering deep down that is making them miserable.
There's definitely a certain amount of needless shitty dismissiveness that western women experience from men. They have to fight harder to be taken seriously, and that would certainly get old
I think that crap still goes on today all over the world not just the west.
That's why I specifically asked about the west. Of course there are tons of places, especially in the east where women are oppressed
No, but men are in the USA, and there are laws and clurts helping women to abuse and harm men, and it happens very often.
Let's see what happens with Kamala Harris. That should help answer the question.
I think so... women can be judged and played by men still. that's why beyonce is eager to sell her vagina
Women tend to play more mind games than men. And Beyonce isn't a good example to use. She's rich. She doesn't need to sell her vagina at all
Pussy doll
They never were. If that was the case humanity would have ended within a generation or two of such an implementation of social policy.
Although women in the west have made progress in many areas, they still face some inequalities and challenges.
Like what?
There is no wage inequality nowadays. That is solely based on the career paths men and women tend to choose and also the traits they have like assertiveness, agreeableness, etc.
There are no barriers to career advancement. If anything most companies have an inclusivity policy and when there's few women in a male dominated workplace or field, they'll give incentives and prioritize females for the positions.
As for gender stereotypes, that's always going to be around as men are physically stronger and can do physical jobs better than most women.
And violence it depends on the type you're talking about. If you're talking about stats, males are 74% of homicide victims. If you're talking about rape, then obviously females are the victims more so because males are physically stronger and more likely to commit violent crimes. 91% of rape victims are female so your point is only valid on that. When it comes to domestic violence 1 in 3 girls in the US are victims and 1 in 4 guys are victims. So domestic violence is pretty close.
Overall, your points are untrue.

There will always be inequality because EVERYONE is different. Not just men and women. Everyone has their own skills and capabilities.
Yes, especially in the goober-run Southern states.
Some definitely are.
women were never oppressed, they just loved their entitlements.
If republicans get back in power, and have their way, yes
Rather men are oppressed.
No, just the opposite: they are privileged.
No. Period
And what about the rest of the month?
