Your argument is a fallacy. They have just about 2 weeks before the primary.

If you want to have a new primary, how many candidates will be able to canvass each of the 50 states +territories to get the signatures needed to get onto the primary ballot?

How many of them will have the time to deal with court challenges to their signatures (VERY common in every. single. election. cycle.)?

There's a few dozen other smaller factors that also work against it. But also think about the existing FEC laws that allow a primaried candidate to transfer delegates and election funds to their choice of replacement when dropping out. You think this hasn't happened before?

And we are NOT A DEMOCRACY, we are a REPUBLIC and our representatives are in place to make these kinds of snap decisions, especially in cases like this.

The only reason any of this is an issue is because the MAGA dumbasses are falling over themselves in fear of Kamala because she's certain to get more public support than Biden did. Maga lawyers are grasping at any feeble argument they can.

I agree. There's no way to go back and redo all the primaries and caucuses. The closest thing to a democratic process now would be to have a totally open Democratic Convention. Let each delegate determine who their local people would like to have as the Democratic presidential candidate, and vote that during an open floor vote during the Convention.

It would be interesting to take a poll of people who voted in the primaries and caucuses: "If Harris, not Biden, had been in the primary/caucus, how would you have voted?"

What do they mean, "without any voting process"? They held a primary election, and the Biden-Harris ticket was voted in. If Biden had keeled over and died, she'd still be the candidate; why do they somehow expect this to change now that he's merely stopped seeking re-election?

Now, we know what the REAL problem is; Kamala Harris is today's Dan Quayle, a VP chosen by a Presidential hopeful to ensure that no one DARES take a shot at them, for fear of who would take power next. Insofar as that's exactly the reason that Biden himself was chosen as VP, my sympathy is distinctly lacking.

It's difficult, because there nsy not be enough time for a primary. Harris is a strong choice and probably would have run in 2028 if Biden stayed in this race. She also had a good chance of winning the nominee. She's also the only Democrat who is interested in being president who has actually been acting in that capacity (POTUS is considered unable to assume his duties while undergoing a medical procedure involving anesthesia).
