Yep. As I got older, in my upper 30s, after my dad passed I began to notice a few things in me that were like him. Also my mom before she passed.

Expressions, remarks and smiles are theirs. I spent a lot of time with them the last 12 years before dad's health started to fail. Then I moved in per his request. He used to tell the best life stories. He would change his voice speaking what telhe other guy said. It was nothing like their voice but that's what made it so endearing. Mom would always throw her.02 cents in at the right moment.

I agree man. I notice quite a few similarities between my dad and myself

In most cases, we teach or children (apple) how to behave in society, so even though the apple falls from the family tree and ventures out on it's own, it takes a little piece of home via the teachings with it wherever it goes.

It also means the apple may disconnect from the tree but quite often it either comes back to the tree and/or never really ventures that far from it. Especially, when it needs to do laundry or eat/grab some groceries.

Well our family is like a tree that branches out and it is nice to be seen as being close to your family personality & character wise in a positive / cute expression.
