Yes Due Process is important, no it has nothing to do with your rights but rather the process by which the goverment prosecutes you. That is why it is called Due PROCESS of law. Its a documented and required process of enforcing the law.

Not a set of abstract ideas which unelected politicians in black robes can make up on a case by case basis. But rather the documented list of things that had to have happened before you showed up before said court including showing up to the court itself.

It doesn't define what is: " the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States". You won't find such a definition anywhere in the constitution separate and apart from what was already a legal requirement. Thus in reality it said nothing.

"nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."

Theses 2 clauses make a little more sense, if they apply excursively to the executive.
A) In banning states from just executing people on the spot (as the feds just got done doing to the tune of hundreds of thousands).
B) Unequally applying the laws (as the UK is currently doing with their two tier policing).

However in both cases the "law" as written by the state legislator can change that practice as to not cover such situation (as it does inherently) or not require certant process (as it also does inherently).

Thus ultimately this says nothing more than maintain a republican form of goverment either.

The 14th Amendment might be a very powerful and harmful clause of the Constitution if read broadly. But in truth it was just written by incompetent and idiots who had no concept of logical flow of their acts.
In reality they were just vaguely concerned that their previously passed "Civil rights act" to repress the newly conquered southern states would be unconstitutional so they "passed" this amendment with poorly selected selections form said act to justify it.

I say "passed" because the amendment itself was soo controversial it only ever got ratified if you assume:
1: States can radifiy an amendment under the gun as 11 southern states did.
2: States can only ever approve an amendment and never reject it.

If those are legitimate rules of ratification then almost anything congress or convention ever p reposes will eventually pass.

It doesn't have much to do with your rights beyond what that process would have otherwise protected.

The under-funding issue is more about your "right to a speedy trial" which is not a process but availability issue of too much being crammed thou the system for what it is.

Yes, the problem with all this is that you can't necessarily conclude that somebody's guilty. Based on your feelings. You need to have evidence and proof. Those are things that are part of due process which is also why we have courts. I know you're very into vigilante Justice but fortunately we have very little of that in this country and the part we do have is illegal as hell.
