In 2016, during the U. S. presidential campaign, Pope Francis made a remark that was widely interpreted as a critique of Trump. When asked about Trump’s proposal to build a wall along the U. S.-Mexico border, the Pope said, “A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian.” Trump responded by calling the Pope’s comments "disgraceful" but also said that he had respect for the Pope.

My conclusion is Pope Francis can fuck right off. He's not dealing with the drugs, illegal entries, human trafficking, or all the sad things that happen to those people as they're trying to cross. Do it legally if you want to come here... or fuck right off.

Under Trump illegal border crossings were reported to be at their lowest level since the early 1970s. Under President Biden, illegal immigration reached record highs, with 2021 and 2022 seeing the highest numbers of border encounters ever recorded. That issue has a clear winner from my perspective. And this pope gets the middle finger from me.
