If we were born without consent why can’t we leave without consent?

on one hand, we society wants to know its by your own will and not coerced. was a time people were being "snuffed out" in Brazil, that was awful... murder for $. that's not ok. some people get help get lives back, that has societal value... makes us feel good as humans to help others and adds economic value to life. The idea should be to help people get most out of their lives and potential.

the other angle is religeos... life has value... those people are consistent generally favoring unborn life and retaining life alive.. to a fault.

lastly there is the $ angle... a mature life has a lot of death value to it whereas an unborn doesn't (although abortion Dr.'s make big $ I hear). that's economic and certainly those forces at play in making laws.

I'm of view you should be able to end your life as an adult.

what's really messed up is the lack of social/emotional support. It seems we are more inclined to require a person to suffer... and that makes sense in that the "the devil" is in charge of this world... not "God is love".

maybe a war every 3 years... all people that want to die get weapons and go at it on an island until they are dead. gross humor im sure hollywood would enjoy...

The reason suicide has been discouraged and vilified is because in the past the masses were serfs and slaves living horrible lives. If your serfs and slaves decide they are better off dead than living through the hardships put on them by the ruling classes that's a problem for the ruling classes.

The idea of god has benefited society probably more than inhibited. But we’re getting smarter and more aware and less secure in our beliefs

False young people become more and more believer than the previous generation which actually cause a lot of trouble in France because there's lots of muslim if they were all Catholic it would cause no trouble

Probably true, but simple fact of people marking “non belief” or atheist has been growing in correlation with the internet.

Your consent isn't required much-less possible, but a desire for life is also natural and expected and where said desire does not exist there is something very unhealthy going wrong with you in your head. You need help sorting that out.
