Is consent important in anything you do with your partner?

Yes but some things should be implied consent when 2 people agree to be a couple.

If a person feels like they need permission to hug, kiss, cuddle, or hump the person who is in love with them, the relationship is unstable.

When you grow up, you will eventually learn this, but for now just enjoy life and don't worry about relationship stuff.

It’s just that I’m worried if in the future I’m uncomfortable with something and I don’t want to do something but the other person does and they get upset. Like is it selfish if I feel uncomfortable doing something and don’t want to do it?

You always have the right to turn down anything you don't want to do and no relationship is worth it for putting up with unwanted sex. (if they don't accept your "no" it becomes rape).

Of course anyone is also free to leave a relationship if they are not happy

My family’s pretty traditional and has the rule that you have to be submissive to your man no matter if you don’t like it or not. I’ve learned that my value and worth comes from what I can do for people including my man. And that my only purpose is to serve.

The world changes and I think people need to change with it. There was a time when society made women reliant on men, but in much of the world that is no longer true. YOU get to decide your place in the world now. If being traditional is what you want, that is still an option, but its not your only option and its your choice.

I assume your family wants what is best for you. (and if not, then they don't deserve your respect). They may be traditional and slow to see how much the world has changed, but if you do well in any direction I think they will be proud of you.

What really matters most though is that you be proud of yourself. Yours is the only opinion that really matters.

But if you do decide to be traditional then find a partner who meets the traditional requirements on men - someone who will love you, care for you, protect you and never harm you in any way. Traditional men do not demand favors their wives do not want to provide, they earn their love and devotion.

The most important thing is that you have a choice in the life you want to live. You can listen to the advice of others but YOU decide
