Half of America is on the verge of voting for a communist. Is it going to take some kind of horrific crisis to wake Americans up to this threat?

When Kamala Harris had her short stint in the US Senate, she was voted the most radical left member in a senate that included the likes of Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders, both of whom have been rejected by Americans for the position of president for being too radical.

Yet now just a few short years later, Harris has become the selection of the Democrat party to be president. It proves that this notion that "It could never happen here" is woefully ignorant. It can happen here, and it IS ALREADY happening here if people don't wake up.

Is it going to take some kind of horrible national catastrophe like Americans have never suffered before for people to finally wake up? Is America going to have to go down the same authoritarian rathole as places like Venezuela, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, China, or Russia did before Americans finally get it?

Price controls? Government redistribution of YOUR income? Draconian government taxes and regulations? Government before the people? The heavy hand of government forced upon every aspect of your life? This is the Kamala Harris and her leftist comrades' agenda. It's the same failed agenda that has been proven a disaster over and over and over again everywhere it has been tried. She is an economic and foreign policy illiterate with no experience at all in either and is living in some kind of fantasy world. If the last 4 years have not already proven that I don't know what would.

If you vote for tyranny, you will live in tyranny. And there is no going back. The bigger the government the smaller the citizen. Think carefully. This is not a drill, this is the real thing.

High inflation has been a problem across most western countries.

It is all very well that inflation has fallen in most but that is small comfort because that just means prices are rising less fast and not falling back to prior levels - that would be deflation.

So the increases of from 2020 are baked in. In relative terms the only way food, housing, gas will fall as a percentage of your income will be for your income to rise.

If food has risen by 20% from 2020 than you need to have got an income increase of 20% roughly speaking to have stood still. That level of increase is unlikely for most of us in most countries.

Food distribution chains are quite extensive now and transport costs - gasoline/diesel -are I suspect a large percentage of the shelf price.

Price controls are a fools paradise and a Marxist dream when we know the mark up on in the retail outlet shelves are a couple of percent. Very common for gov't to blame companies for increases they have directly caused.

At the very least you need to ensure the price got at farm gates is enough to cover farmers costs in growing food and allow an income so they will continue to grow food. Otherwise it will be like communist Russia where peasants stopped growing food because the communists just stole it.

Yes I agree. that The Democrats are blaming price gouging for the inflation that they caused to try to distract from their failed policies.

But I disagree that the Biden Harris administration was a victim of a worldwide inflation trend. I think that's equally as absurd an excuse as they're gouging story.

After covid they were repeatedly warned by Republicans not to engage in the massive spending packages they initiated such as the so-called infrastructure bill or to engage in policies that caused the price of fuel to skyrocket such as the canceling of the Keystone Pipeline because they would trigger dangerous inflation.

They ignored all the warnings and the result was inevitable. Biden walked into a White House while inflation was 1.4% and GDP growth was 6.3% and immediately undid every policy that President Trump had put in place that was working.

All he had to do was nothing and the catastrophe that is causing 62% of Americans to be living paycheck to paycheck could have been avoided.

They poured fuel on the inflation fire by doing exactly what should not have been done.

And now, they are talking about price controls to remedy the problem they caused which will double down on their failure.

They are economic illiterates and that's why Americans are suffering so much.

There is no doubt that borrow and spend puts more money into any economy, causes inflation and central banks are forced to increase interest rates to dampen inflation. I just try to be non-partisan with domestic politics of other countries.

But the effects of pumping up the money supply is common across all economies.

In mine, inflation was 0.8% in 2020 but rapidly rose to historic highs from borrow and spend. Accumulated it is under 20% but close enough to say 20% approx. It is quite disingenuous for politicians to argue that inflation has now come down so it is all OK now and everything is wonderful again.

It is disingenuous because stuff is still 20% higher than what it was. The only way we get back to where we were is our income increasing by 20% roughly. Inflation might go back to 0.8% but the shelf prices are still 20% higher than what they were. So it continues to be difficult to afford. A now lower inflation rate doesn't make it all better.

That was kinda my main point.

Second point was we have also seen price control in recent times. Not by gov't but private sector price control. A supermarket chain decided it could get more market share by lowering it's own brand fresh milk from $2AUD per litre to $1AUD per litre.

Milk processors having their profitability squeezed, then squeezed dairy farmers in turn. Dairy farmers only get maybe 10% of the shelf price. Having their farm gate price slashed caused some to close the farm gate because they lost less by not producing.

Unintended consequences aren't foreseen by the economic illiterate. Squeeze shelf prices down means squeezing food processors down who will squeeze raw food producers in turn. Not so smart to persuade raw food producers to stop producing.

People already know how a Trump presidency was because Trump was already president once and life was great for the American people under him. That is a terrifying thought. I fear what's going to happen after the election regardless of who wins because there's so much anger on both sides. But I agree that if President Trump does not win we won't have a country left in 4 years. It is hard to imagine that people are just going to take that without a backlash. I think that the Republic is teetering on the brink probably the closest to civil war that it has been since the 1860s. We can only pray that it does not come to that. But it's difficult to see how some kind of crisis can be avoided.

Yes, people that have been raising families, paid taxes and played by the rules were all too busy to get involved with politics. For two hundred years the government was allowed to take care of itself. Corruption was always there but never like we have now. The thought of a president or vice president peddling influence to other countries, some of them adversaries was unthinkable and now we have seen it close up. It is time for people to get involved. Volunteer to be a poll watcher or help a local candidate run for school committee. Put up a lawn sign for your chosen candidate of just put a bumper sticker on your car. And most of all, get out a vote. And make sure all your friends and family do the same.

Be sure to get everyone to vote ALL REPUBLICAN on the down ballots for all other positions. If President Trump doesn't have Congress there is a lot he cannot do.

The problem in government today is that they know they can get away with the corruption. There are NEVER any consequences. Investigations up the ying yang, but NO ONE is ever held accountable. That's not an accident. It's pure I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine corruption.

The only person who is ever prosecuted is the one person who ISN'T CORRUPT, Donald J. Trump.

I still find it very hard to believe that the person that could not get one single vote in the primary and was installed by Obama and Pelosi is going to gain much traction. I still would not be surprised if she was dumped at the convention. The Democrat decisionmakers might think that Josh Shapiro would be a better choice.

The Democrats have been promoting voter fraud for years now by allowing illegals to get drivers licenses AND to ILLEGALLY register to vote at the same time.

Easy job because they already know that every single one of the illegals has no problem breaking our laws.

In Virginia alone they already found over 6,000 illegally registered aliens on the voter rolls.
