Why can't Republicans get over their paranoid fear of communism since no one in America is communist or ever going to be communist?

I don't think it's just Republicans, Americans as a whole seem obsessed with the threat of communism compared to Europeans.
A big part of the problem is America still lives in the shadow of the McCarthy witch hunts where the mere suspicion of being a commie could destroy your life. People felt they had to shout out their disapproval daily or they'd be accessed. That mindset got passed on down the generations where you've now got 16-year-olds who feel they need to knock up anti-communist memes.

I will let you in on a big secret. Trumplicans don’t care about communism. They embrace whatever economic system that gives them power and control. None of them care about government intervention. They just care if is on behalf of groups they hate.

All kinds of politicians received PPP loans. Then voted to forgive the loans. They don’t care.

Isn't communism typically the end result of a socialist system struggling with its economy and resources?

Also, I'm pretty sure there are quite a few people in the United States that want socialism, right?
