As for what I think about surveillance in general, No Such Agency in particular, and their internet profiling specifically - <thoughtcrime>. No, but seriously, it's outright evil. Not much that can be done about it, though. I mean... Living in Eurasia, I might hope to be out of their reach, but to be frank, I wouldn't count on that. Not until Eurasia is officially formed... And when it is, it's not going to be any better, so... whatever. Right now, the only way to take them down is to have all their facilities miraculously hit with meteors, since no Person of Goodwill could get close enough to them for long enough to do anything about their existence.
Now... I'll excuse myself before I get vaporized. And if I do get vaporized... Please, do not forget about me. As long as I live in the memories of even a single person, I'm not exactly an unperson. Consider me crimethinkful, if You must, but do not forget about me.
Only those who are doing wrong, seek to do wrong would even blink about this. Most countries have similar, in the west it’s mainly used for internal or external terrorism or other illegal activities. Only those involved in those activities would be concerned about it.
I don't care? I assume everything I type out into the world is observed by someone; what do I care if it's that agency or another?
I have nothing to hide in my life, so if someone wants to watch the things I type in, I don't really care? Pro tip for my fellow D&D nerds, you can add "5e" to the end of any search you type in to make it safe. I am sure you all, like me, have the most random and unusual search histories ending in "5e," just like I do.
And to my personal observer who is watching every keystroke I have typed in my life: I hope you are entertained and your eyes are still in good health from trying to keep up with the constant stream of insanity that streams out of me 😘
It is more that pornhub is bad at searches and I have very specific tastes. Guess it is limited to search text descriptions and categories. Long given up on detailed searches because they never work. Pornhub is excessively politically correct as well which is annoying.
Even so I can't see myself being embarrassed by it..
Look at the date on this article, this is old, they had the capability 15 years ago. What they're capable of now I'm sure far exceeds anything from a dozen years ago.
They can't "watch" you without some means of connection, unless they literally have agents stationed over every square yard of the country. At 3.001 million square yards per square mile, that would require more human beings than have ever lived to ALL work for the NSA, and just in data-gathering.
If you're going to argue that a computer that doesn't even TRACK that data is somehow transmitting it, you'd not only need to triple bandwidth consumption just to do that, but have a processing center capable of handling zetabytes of input, every second of every day.
And to back these ludicrous assertions up, you offer a link that doesn't work. Peddle your conspiracy theories elsewhere, friend; the government we ACTUALLY have is bad enough.
It is best not to underestimate the incompetents of Federal Government agencies. That said with a little hired help from tech companies they can do quite a lot of harm.
How do You do it? Maybe in case of a war with China or Russia... But I'm more than sure there's a whole lot of other facilities like this that we do not know of.
Couldn't accept the possibility that it's true I guess. I was just shaking my head and thinking, "has he ever heard of Edward Snowden?". I mean this is stuff from over a decade ago, I didn't think it would shock anyone.
It's kind of amazing really that there's people out there who A. Have never heard any of this before, and B. Who are apparently unable to process or accept the idea. I mean it's nuts, but it's true. Most people just prefer not to think about it though.
Are You? Do You have anti-drone protection online? I don't think they would go as far as to send human hitmen after those they deem troublesome. A drone hit is cheaper, and drones keep their secrets forever, unlike human hitmen that can always have a change of heart and spill the beans on their employers or even turn against them.
@CalmUntilAbused droning American citizens wouldn't be allowed. If they disregarded that, then the fact that most of our military personnel are southern boys I don't think they'd do it. If they were to start to drone American citizens despite fleeing from fourth century barbarians armed with AKs then I suppose I'd be screwed.
@ladsin2 I commend Your confidence, but it's No Such Agency we're talking about. They control all the information. They could cover up their drone hit job as a "foreign terrorist attack on a US citizen", giving them one more argument to further extend their power. If enough people caught wind of Your fate that it would be impossible to eliminate them with drone strikes in turn, they might be screwed, but since they control all the information, it is quite an unlikely scenario. The best defense against them is not to give them a reason to target You, but with their god complex, there is never any guarantee they won't just pick You at random for fun.
The crazy thing about this place and the big controversy when it was built, was not what was for, but the fact that it uses in excess of a million gallons of water a day. All of the electronics inside generate an enormous amount of heat.
I'm not sure if you're referring to me or some of the people who commented, but no I watched this place get built and was well aware of it almost ten years ago.
