Do you care if the government can view your e-mails, tap your phone calls, or check your browser history? How much of your privacy do you value?

If the police or fbi can, that's a problem, if the Cia can maybe that's a problem too, if the NSA or Homeland security can, I don't give a single shit at all. They're looking for shit that actually matters, not this person's nudes or my illegal activity or the weird porn the average GAG user watches.
I value my privacy and all but c'mon, out of all the things the government has done to fuck over the American people, abusing peoples privacy unnecessarily is pretty much the only line they have almost never crossed.
I never heard of anyone's text messages getting them in trouble with the government without the government having to jump through some hoops yet.
My step mom was a procecutor with the drug enforcement division for a part of New Jersey, it's a pretty well regulated process.
You have a higher chance of the cops raiding your house and shooting you in the face on accident because they got the address mixed up.
they already do that, me being bi-national... and I don't care since I can't really stop it, plus there's nothing illegal they will find, all my dealings are in rule, also on check
the only concern I'd have was identity theft, fraud issues... I already had the second but it wasn't the government, it were some employees from my bank, got all sorted out and stuff
my idea of privacy during these modern times is not that one of absolutely NOBODY not knowing about me... my idea of privacy is that my personal data is not just readily available to the public or just to anyone who wants to see it
I don't really care if the government knows exactly how much I make and how, or my health history... or whatever I buy, what I don't want is for everyone else the people, to know how much I make or don't make... lol, that can be dangerous
I don't like it, can't stop it. Snowden the whistleblower tried to show people what the NSA was doing.
The thing I will really say, is how does the government know it is actually ME.
I could totally have stolen someones ID to get a phone, ISP or whatever, so if they think spying on Jane Doe is actually Jane Doe, they could be wrong. Honestly nothing is in my name, so... how would they know exactly who's emails they are reading and who's phone calls they are listening to or my browser history.
If I do anything illegal, they can track down the wrong person and arrest them I suppose.
@MAC1983 Oh I haven't stolen someone's ID, I just don't use real ID... people can vote without ID, they can sign up for a ISP with a fake name, literally. No ISP has ever verified I'm a real person.
Then again, there was that guy who had no wifi password and someone used his open wifi to download child porn and they just came in and charged him for it, as if he did it himself... and he went to jail for it... so they clearly don't care who actually did a crime, just go for whoever is on file.
That's easy your cell phone everytime you access the internet from it you have a MAC ID and IMRI serial number and your ICCID and SIM that's how your confirmed and tracked. Also theirs cameras everywhere and facial recognition is a thing and ur phone carries that camera and if ur walking down any area with a camera and that phone is on ur person, that's how they verify it's you lol
@Fuentes There is not camera's everywhere in my town, a population of a 180 or so people... my nearest neighbor is so far away, I don't even have to wear cloths in my backyard, he can't see nothing.
I know what you mean though if I go, into the big city and I do keep my phone always in my bag, just in case they are using it... all they'll see is black. I actually have a case with a cover on it, so I have to open it for the camera's to have a clear view.
Lol you ever heard of a cartographer? The CIA and NSA have them all small towns are all drawed out on maps and they knew who is who inside what house and they update it. It's actual job to get paid and survey areas like the boonies and then draw them out. Since you're in a small area too it's even easier to keep track of all customers since your phone services are not of the variety of the big city so your phone especially will keep pinging off one specific cell site tower and that's easy to know it's you seeing how many times it keeps registering on there. It's the truth nobody can hide from the government unless you're living in super off grid in an area thar was never surveyed.
@Fuentes Well of course they can, but if they stop me and I have no phone on me anywhere, they'd literally have to have people directly watching at all times. Either via satellite or in person which would be obvious since whenever someone comes around everyone notices.
They can see that Jane Doe lives in this house but then come talk to me, I'm not Jane Doe... then again, I have no cell service here. Literally no towers around... nothing to ping off of.
Your right of course, see the CIA shouldn't even be spying on its own citizens. Neither should the NSA without a warrant.
It' legal now post 9/11 & Boston Bombing we all are watched and most companies in their disclosure agreemnts that none of us even look at ever even says they're and could be listening you ever heard of the whole Amazon whatever house talky thing people were getting and Amazon admitted their employees can hear you because it's used as "ways of improving bugs" and you could even request your own sound recordings and hear everything you ever said lol many companies are like this. Just like Lae Enforcement has access too iclouds during certain cases lol
It's all legal people just don't even know it lol All Snowden did is tell us we're and confirmed it.
They've already had that ability since day one. Most countries have some laws in place that limits snooping but they are easily bypassed if there's a reasonable concern. There is of course nothing stopping foreign countries snooping on you, and we do.

Forget about "the government". THEY ARE ALL DOING IT BECAUSE THEY CAN - THAT'S THE NATURE OF THE TECHNOLOGY. Look at all your fucking spam email and targeted advertising! How do you think they are perfectly targeted to you? Because systems like this collect your data including what your contact information, IP address, what you click on and the time you spend lingering on things and then they sell it all. You don't have to worry about the government. You have to worry about the unscrupulous entities buying your data on the dark web who are then going to blackmail or extort you.
Here's an example.
I got an account with Ace Hardware when I was in the Ace Hardware store near my home.
The cashier misspelled my first name, Vincent, dropping the N. So, on my Ace Hardware account, I am Vicent. So, whenever I see email or junk mail for "Vicent", I know where exactly where they got that name: Ace Hardware selling my contact information and records of my Ace Hardware purchases.

Privacy is a wonderful thing however privacy is a thing of the distant past & if you want a little privacy you can start by not clicking (ACCEPT TERMS & CONDITIONS) or go live in a tent in the middle of no where. As for our government (s) their going to do what their going to do & they have been doing this shit from the beginning of I time & if people only knew.
What a DUMB question...
Don't you have secret chats? Don't u have porn? Don't u have "weird" thoughts/ideas from your friends, sent to you as "e-mail, text" ? Don't u have notes? Is not ur ENTIRE LIFE DIARY in the "device/s" you use?
So if everything that u have in ur "devices" would land u in "questioning/hot water", would u like to have ALL THAT "exposed, brought to surface" for the world to SEE?
🤦āāļø🤷āāļø
I value all of my privacy. At present, iām less concerned with my governmentās overreach and more concerned with corporations selling MY personal information. Thatās no different than a tweaker walking into your open garage and taking everything they want and selling it ājust because they canā. Itās MY information. I should have complete and exclusive rights to it, especially where financial gain is concerned.
well it's too late to "value that privacy", cause the government has been and is already doing that. that's exactly why snowden is in exile. cause he whistleblowed that fact and at the time that ways actually still illegal for the CIA to do so he was right... these days it's legal tho. law has changed.
This is a great question and RELEVANT to today.
Currently the left wing radicals in the pentagon have hired private company to dig through soldiers Facebook accounts to see if theyāre āoverly patriotic, from a āoverly white backgroundā or ācouldā be a secret racist.
Early 2000s republicans thought privacy was overrated if gov snooping could stop terrorist attacks. NOW itās the left who is all for snooping because āthereās secret racists everywhere.ā Both groups are shamefully wrong.
"Amendment IV
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."
I do care. They have no business looking at my stuff. Not without a warrent, probable cause or reasonable suspicion.
What if I tell you we are all being watched anytime they want live through telescopes.
But they donāt interfere with our lives. Those telescopes can even show who killed who but itās not their job to help us on earth. Cops and us have to figure it out ourself. Different entities for different purpose.
I dont care if they "can". Anybody with a reasonable amount of programming experience "can" do that as well... whether or not they should have the freedom to do so without probable cause is a different story. There's a lot of instances where your privacy isn't exactly as private as you think. When you're using someone else's software, like facebook, a lot of data is parsed and sold for various reasons and you take that risk by using that product and agreeing to their terms of service
I want to be aware of it. But really other than bitchy GaG posts and some occasional weird porn thereās nothing to hide.
The whole patriot act thing woulda been fine if they came out and said āweāre tracking everyoneās cellphones, and yes unfortunately we now have to discriminate against Muslims.ā
Ya, I HATE that, but I also understand why it might be necessary as long as all the correct checks and balances are in place.
Government is responsible for protecting its citizens from each other, enforce law, and defending the country from outside forces.
Goverments should promote national prosperity, quality of life, and expected to provide basic services, and ensure basic well-being for their citizens.
The government has been doing this for years in the US. James Bamford did an indepth view is the collection efforts of US intelligence agencies many years ago (over a decade) when it was estimated the US was monitoring 85% of the worlds emails. I can only imagine how advanced the collection machine is now.
I don't like it. But they aren't nearly as bad as companies like Google, FB, MS, Amazon, and all the rest of the spies. The government is nothing compared to what those kind of companies do. Google and FB should be completely shut down.
The Internet is basically a big spy network. But people voluntarily use it, usually with very little to no protection.
It's annoying, for sure, and should be stopped. Thankfully, what they know about me is what anyone on here knows: I'm an artist and writer with a passion for world building. I have a weakness for mulatto, Filipina, Chinese, and Korean women. I have a lot of projects published to my blog. To most of them, I'm still pretty boring.
Nobody likes it, but what can we do? I don't care too much about it, not like I used to. I can live with the fact that they can find that Iāve watched a porno here and there in the past in my browsing history. No biggie.
As long as you're not watching child porn or sharing sensitive gov secrets over the web, don't worry too much.
We all care. Government overreach is rampant in the usa especially online since ajit pai got rid of the internet freedom that prevented companies and the government from stealing our information without cause. We want our personal privacy to be private, not for all to see.
I care.
But there is not much that can be done about it unfortunately. It would involve disabling Pretty much all computing electronics, which defeats the whole purpose of having them in the first place.
Things online aren't private. Just because Jeff next door can't see what i'm doing doesn't mean i don't have someone at Microsoft, Google, CIA, FBI, Federal Government Agencies and China spying on me and grabbing my data without my awareness.
Edward Snowden is a hero.
@MAC1983
Will have to look up who that is.
1984 was predicted. Here we are.
Of course, I care.
I care a lot especially when my privacy is being violated by establishments that are supposed to protect citizens like me.
If they wanted to know something about a person they would find out even without all things you listed. They have their own ways too Iām certain.
If people weren't pussies it never would have gotten this bad. I understand now how people have let Commie China, Nazi Germany and other leftist shitholes get so much power. We're an embarrassment to The Founding Fathers.
What I say and what I do Is none of the governments damn business. Ya see Trouble will be found If one day the government decides to Make me enemy number.
Enemy number 1
Do I care? Yes
Is there anything I can do about it? Not much, other than limit my use of electronic communications and be careful with what I say and how I say it when using electronic communications.
"Big Brother" has been "watching" us for years now.
I guess it happens. But with everybody. I am not that special as a personality to feel like they will "steal" my personal information.
Yeah it's bullshit. I don't do anything that would be considered a red flag, but I think it's totally wrong to spy on citizens without just cause.
Not okay, I don't want to pay taxes that goes to someone processing my own actions. It's a wasteful process. If they don't trust me they don't deserve my support or my money.
I do care, but I try not to worry about things I canāt control.
I'd rather the government had that information than corporations. Preferably neither, but I do like it when people don't get killed by terrorists.
Doesn't matter whether we care or not, they're doing it and nothing we can do about it except don't use that media for all your business.
They will only look when youve been in trouble or to verify things
Theyre not going to look up jo blog , theyve no time for that
If you have even a Trump-penis of a doubt, that ANY single piece of your activity is hidden from them, wait till you have an encounter with homeland security even if it is just some kind of registration.
I don't particularly like that they can, but I have nothing to hide, so it isn't the end of the world.
Donāt like it. I aināt doing anything wrong and itās my private business
If they check my browser history I am toast Ha
Yes, very 1984 and scary, wouldn't be surprised if they're doing those things.
Yeah and we'll we can do anything about it, luckily I do so much on paper it's of relatively little concern, take my phone almost no where ever
I care because it none of their frelling business. and in a real sense violates the spirit of the 4th Amendment.
I care more if my neighbors or the 'local' hacker can access my stuff. The government really doesn't care what I'm up to as long as the tax keeps rolling.
Yes, they stick their nose in m, y business too much already.
I donāt believe privacy exists online or in public or near any phone/speaker device.
Itās just the way it is. Thatās why I google nasty stuff. I laugh thinking about the poor bastard assigned to look through my records. 😝
I assume they have been doing that to people for many years already.
It's not right at all and all the politicians that enable this should hang. Any sort of government surveillance on the populace is unacceptable.
I don't care unless they start writing newspaper articles about it.
In theory yes, but in reality no. They can look over all my boring shit all they want.
Humanity has failed by the time anyone or anything needs survailance.
They are more than welcome to it, the porn I watch isn't that exciting.
They been had access not much you can do about it lol
You can't separate privacy from freedom. Without the former you don't have the latter.
I have no secrets other than how nice I am
Yes I do care,... clearly their mass surveillance and meta data will say other wise.
Does that mean they can see my nudes?
Definitely yes
Eh they can check it, they won't find anything
Of course I care.
Really sucks, but oh well
Yes I care... thats total bullshit. 😈😈😈
Do I care? Sure. Can I stop it? Hardly.
That's way too much.
Why would I NOT care?
