I say yes as long as she passes all the standards that are set for men. When you start lowering standards the quality of the officer goes down as far as physicality. Not just as police officers but as military personnel, firefighters, etc. I’ve seen so many videos of women trying to take down a perp only to have their asses handed to them. Almost guarantee if you asked a majority of people if they were getting their ass kicked by some dude 6ft something, 200 plus lbs, who would you rather show up? Two female cops or two male cops? People today are too scared of being called misogynistic or whatever else terms are thrown at them for saying such a thing. We need to live in reality, not Disneyland. You had an all women’s SWAt team compete in a competition who couldn’t even get across the zip line for quite sometime. Then there was a group of women firefighters in Canada who were doing a controlled burn but ended up setting the forest on fire. Hell I can’t even go through a night of work here at the hospital w out the female nurses calling me to help lift some patient. Then when you get patients who become hostile, who do you think they call? People need to be honest, stop feeding into this whole narrative that we’re all equal. We’re not.
Yes, but maybe not as beat cops. They have value when communicating with families during domestic abuse, child abuse, etc. Every crime isn't a nail that needs to be hit with a hammer. Sometimes you need language specialists, psychologists, etc. that can get people to talk, mediate problems, etc. Who do you think a five year old is likely to spill the beans to some jacked up guy that busts heads on corners and downs shots after work or some soft spoken women? Different people for different situations.
Policing has a lot to do with community/networking. There have to be people in the community that trust some cops so that when shit goes down there's someone to talk to. If no one will talk to the cops, then how are you suppose to know what went down and who done it? Some people are more willing to tell women certain things. Some people are more willing to tell men certain things... You have to have different tools in your tool chest.
It had always been my dream and ambition to become a policewoman, but sadly due to a medical condition this was not possible... However I was encouraged to look at other opportunities within the police force, and ultimately studied and qualified as a forensic scientist within the police authority.
Probably not it’s a dangerous job for women it only really comes in handy for arresting other women so they can’t act like a male officer arresting them is a pervert

I stand with the majority, women can and should be police officers when they have taken the same tests as men, will follow same protocol as men, and will fill out paperwork just as the men. Good on her, thank you to all law enforcement officers who help make this country a better place with carrying out your duties responsibly & respectfully & with great dignity within the limitations of the law! Protect and serve, you handsome men & beautiful women of the force.
Yes after all why not. Besides, many jobs aren't closed to gender these days - nurses for example - doctors for example - surgeons - I for one think if a person especially is in pain or medical needs, they're not gonna care if it's a man or woman, they want help, so I reckon yes women can be police officers,
Dentists also
Yeah. My father was a cop. And when he went on the force he had to lie about his height because at that time they wouldn't allow guys over 6'4" to be a cop. My father was cop serving The DMPD for 33 years. Had they strictly enforced this they would have missed out on a very good cop.
Point of what I'm saying is the heart cannot be measured by gender or size. If you have the desire and are capable you should get the opportunity.
Yes they do a good job, social media is happy to pick on highlight the odd one for various things, however they also fail to post similar ones of guys fucking up.
Not to sound rude but why is this still a question in 2024? Why shouldn't they (to those who believe they shouldn't?)
Feel free to ask the other blue anon who voted no. He’s in the comments. I’m just here to collect the numbers
Ya it’s 2024, of course they should.
@BarryLiverstone even some girls voted ‘no’
My best friend is a police officer so yes for sure!
My mom was a LEO for almost 30 years. So yes, absolutely. 😊
If she can pass the competence and fitness tests? Sure. Same as a dude.
Yes, but only if they qualify per the same standards as men, and very few do.
"Hey Siri, play Mrs Officer by little Wayne"
No! No little Wayne on my watch
Could they? yes, should they? Nope

I think society should protect women, not throw them in the line of fire when it comes to danger.
Honestly, I don't think so.
