I am a woman and I believe women can do the same jobs as men. However, scientifically speaking men are more logical and stronger than women and dont scare easily. No women can't do the same jobs as men. They like to think they can but 7.5 / 8 out of 10 times they make themselves look like fools. Take it from someone who is ex-military, who is law enforcement & who works in construction. The average women I encounter in these fields are more interested in the on-site dating game than doing their actual job. Yesterday as an example over the radio a flag girl for the construction team goes X is such a cutie, etc., etc., etc but he's married & does a nervous/guilty laugh.
With police muscle isn't always needed. But women are more prone to blind panic. That's useless in policing. Women are more prone to thinking they're the best of the best with a tidbit of training. That's useless in policing. Women are more emotional. That's useless in policing.

As I see it, if a job requires you to perform certain tasks, you should be able to perform those tasks- with reasonable accommodation, if necessary, but still. Setting lower standards for people based on uncontrollable characteristics is just asking for trouble- particularly in jobs like police or firefighters or soldiers. If she needs to ask for help to lift the water-cooler bottle into place, that's probably not a big deal, but if she can't pull you to safety when you've been shot and you get left behind and die, you're going to be pissed- and rightly so.
Yes, this means that most people who do the most physically demanding jobs will be men. That's okay. People have different ideas and interests, and even wildly varying gender disparities are not necessarily the result of active bigotry. The average woman is going to have work much harder than the average man to meet the standards of a physically demanding job- but the kind of woman who does is exactly the kind of person you want watching your back in a life-or-death situation.
Hard to answer.
For some reason women cops tend to be harsher. Not sure if it's because they need to prove themselves, or they need to assert their authority so they don't get disrespected by others.
But many times that I come across women in positions of authority, they tend to be VERY harsh. :(
Like parking-meter controllers/cops/security-officers/managers.
I have come across one or two female managers that were nice, but then they get screwed by the rest of the organization because they are too nice to say "no". So their teams end up having to deal with unwanted situations.
Strange inbalance.
The sad part about telling you all this is... women ARE better at dealing with multiple little situations happening at the same time, while men tend to go for 1 problem at the time.
(no! i am not saying they are multitasking. I'm saying they are better at keeping track of multiple things happening at the same time.)
Women can definitely be police officers and should be if they want to. One of my very best friends that I've grown up with, as in known since around kindergarten or first grade, all the way until now is a female police officer and she does a great job. Many female police officers have proven that they are more than capable of doing the job. By the way, I wouldn't say that men are scientifically more logical than women. I would say that is more of a sociological thing, considering that women aren't exactly taught in society to think logically. We're mostly taught to follow our intuition and emotions. Being the "outspoken free thinker" was always considered a masculine thing. However, men are definitely scientifically stronger on average, but that doesn't mean that women can't be strong in their own right. Women can still master all the techniques used to bring down suspects if needed, regardless of how strong they are. They also can always call for backup if they're struggling. Male cops do it all the time.

No, because cops shouldn't exist in the first place, male or female. We did quite fine without cops for most of Human history prior to the 1800s when modern policing came into existence as a way to break up strikes and catch runaway slaves. Police as an institution need to be replaced with something that's actually transparent and accountable to the community that they're supposed to serve (a lot of policing where I live is centered in the regional capital a hundred kilometers away and my home municipality doesn't have a police station of its own.) and less prone to abuse and careerism than the police force is in its current form. I don't really care about individual cops, they can be good or bad regardless of whether they are a cop or not. Its the system of policing itself that is the problem here, not the individual. Policing by its very nature is meant to enforce ALL laws, doesn't matter if the law in question is popular or even whether its one that's just to enforce (Arresting individual prostitutes to curb prostitution, non-violent drug offenders to curb drug use, whistleblowers to hide abuse under the guise of national security etc.), its the job of the police to enforce it regardless of their personal feelings, their moral/ethical hangups towards it or the potential harm that it will cause to the people that are on the receiving end of the enforcement because otherwise they're gonna be reprimanded or even fired from the job.
In the US your cops have guns, and in that case maybe, because that evens out the strength difference.
Over here in the UK they don't, so they're pretty much useless. I used to work on the doors, I saw a lot of violence. There were always female police officers walking around, not men. Whenever anything kicked off the guys would be beating the shit out of each other, and the female police officers would have to call male police officers to come and arrest them, and by the time they got there the guys fighting had usually left already. Meanwhile the women were stood there shouting in squeaky voices "stop it right now you're under arrest" while being completely ignored, which was always comical. A woman can't arrest a grown man who doesn't want to be arrested and doesn't give a shit.I've recently gotten a apprenticeship in the British Army, in telecommunications but i still have to go through military training like everyone else.
Yes the risk of danger is more for a woman in certain cases but they can also be a great in certain roles especially in the police. For example rape and domestic abuse victims might feel more comfortable talking to a woman as women tend to be easier to open up to and are usually better at dealing with crimes involving children too as we just have that instincts to protect children not saying men don't but women tend to have stronger instincts in certain situations.
We can usually sense danger and can tell insistently if someones a bit dodgy. Women have had to learn the signs of a wrongen to protect are selfs so were better at knowing what to look for sometimes.
Men and women both have unique qualities that can help work together in a team.I’ll be perfectly honest. And I know I will offend some people. But law enforcement is not a job designed for women.
Realistically what the job of a police officer entails is:
taking down big guys who want to fight you,
be good at chasing men who can run much faster than you because they are taller
wrestling with people resisting arrest.
If you’re a 5’3” 135 lbs, there’s no way you can do any of this.
Usually females do the paper work or take notes while the men do the real work. If police encounter a guy who wants to fight police and resist arrest , they will always send a man to help take him down.Firstly I’d like to begin by saying, of course women can be cops and also you’re explanation as to why women are inferior basically definitely was you trying to defend why you don’t think women should be cops so saying you “never said women” can’t be cops doesn’t change that you definitely gave a description implying just that.
I also find it rather sad that as a women you believe you’re that much inferior to a man I can understand physically sure but logically? Really? 😩
All I have to say is believe in you girl and don’t think because of your gender you’re not capable and if you’re really not don’t blame being a female for it.
You can do anything a man can.I would say it is necessary.
The first thought that came in my mind was, women cops are necessary to handle a women. It would uncomfortable for a man to handle a women, and for the woman too.
Men are biologically strong and logical, ok.
Also when we are talking about the equaliy, it should be a personal choice, if anyone wants to join police. I know you aren't against a woman in police, but I think there are so many fields that can be segregated but think it should be left for individuals to decide.Women offer a tremendous amount of utility in law enforcement. Having said that, this is dependent upon the situation, and the area in which they are patrolling. For example, female officers are much better at handling domestic issues as they are typically more compassionate and personable. They are also typically more effective at deescalating and calming situations down considering most people have ego issues with other men. I personally wouldn't feel safe having a 5'0" 120lb female deputy trying to back me up on an emergency call. She would most likely serve as a liability which further jeopardizes my chances of being injured or killed.
Short answer- yes, why not?
Longer:
If you think that any woman can become equal to men in bearing police officer after some training you are delusional...
Yes there is some very strong women who could do it, but they are very small %.
And I'm talking about street cops who have to deal with beating, phisicaly fighting criminals, including SWAT.
Yes, there is a lot of positions where any women could do as a police officer with right mind set and training, but don't believe those action movie characters who do better job in betting guys all movie it is fiction...
Just how many women in real history books been able to do it? Not many.
If you considering to go for police officers job, I would say go for it, you might be one of this small % and it could be best think that could happen to you.
But consider both sides of job not just glamorous shown on TV part, real job is not that...men aren't more logical than women scientifically, that's a stereotype... but the rest is true. and yea of course they should, but not in the very physical posititons for obvious reasons. besides a lot of positions in the police aren't really physical at all (and it's mostly women who are in these anyways) like taking in complaints & charges. no force required. anyways women can do pretty much anything just as good as guys can do except when it's to do with physical strenghth. guys have the obvious upper hand on that one
I think they should if they want as long as thet are able to keep up with the outhers in the fource (no spasical treatment or prefrance on sex)
I think its even importent for some cases for exsample communicating with a woman that is being dangrus to her self or ouhtersI voted A, because I think women with the ability to be a cop are great cops, and even with the sensibility, it's possible to use it for good. There are women who could and women who couldn't. I wouldn't because I know myself, and it would be a lot of anxiety for me.
if they can preform the job to a similar level. without them requesting the level of entry to be lowered. so they have an easier time to do the job. while also going the training required. I see no issues with women in any job field.
Men and women thing differently, having both view points is a good thing.
Men have an easier time getting stronger than women yes, but policing isn't about strength. And with the correct training, a smaller person can comfortably restrain a. much larger opponent. So no reason I can see why a woman should not be in the police force, as they would. lose a lot without the female influence.A woman's ego is not worth a man's life.

Where the fuck did you get this? "Scientifically speaking", my ass! Show me a single peer-reviewed, refereed paper in a scientific journal showing this.
You've got some growing-up to do.Depens where you come from. I don´t know how the police in the USA works but here in Germany women are already police officers. But whereas I know the US police officers are alone in their car right? Because here in Germany there are also two police officers in the car. So it´s nowadays more often a man and a woman.
I believe so. I was wanting to be a cop for a long time. Still do. But health issues got in the way. We are all different and handle things differently. We can bring a different side to the situation. And I believe woman can relax more if there is a female cop. They speak the same language. Lol. Also, different situations call for different tact. Gender aside, I think anyone can bring positivity to the situation. No matter what gender you are or aren't.
There may be areas in the police work were men aren't as efficient as women, or situations were they would be more useful.
Also, while it is true that men are stronger physically, women are normally more agile and faster. On hand-to-hand combat, make officers have the advantage; on pursue situations, the female officers are more suited for the job.
It's ask about finding the right balance and the right situation for reach one. Other than that, woman can be whatever they want to free.Law enforcement doesn't necessarily rely on muscle strength, it can rely on tools such as tasers, batons, guns, etc. In fact: athletic ability already isn't taken heavily into account considering fat cop prominence: if they tried to apprehend a criminal without a projectile weapon, the criminal would just run away. As far as brain mentality goes some women are definitely better than some men.
I can carry a lot of stuff, a woman can carry some stuff, both can carry, a woman just needs to be careful she doesn't hurt her back.
Does that make sense? Sure, a woman can do it, she might just need to be a bit more careful or train a bit longer.
