Without being rude to the other party, what political party do you feel represents your values more, and why?

I’m an Independent, but I’d say the most important thing to me is that the country is guided more by compassion and decency than than it is prosperity and being the biggest swinging dick in the locker room.

I won’t make any comments about the alternative😇, but the Democrats more align with something that’s very important to me: relying on expertise from highly educated people in whatever given field, particularly science about things like climate change and immunology, and they don’t reject what they’re told, even when it’s inconvenient.

I also, from real-life interpersonal experience as much as any media source, have found that, in a landslide, the people I know with the best personal character vote Democrat, which tells me a lot. There are a few people in my life who, politics aside, I would be quick to tell you were some of the kindest people I’ve ever met in my life. But politics re-injected, they all vote Democrat all the way, so take that for what it’s worth, and be glad I’m not allowed to say anything else😝

I support the current Democratic agenda on almost every social issue imaginable. Border stuff, I want it handled compassionately and humanely, free of mass deportations or internment camps or separating kids from parents or kicking out DACA qualifiers, and I trust them to accomplish that. I support more laws and restrictions on guns. I support women being free to do whatever they want reproductively. I want to start trending towards cleaner energy solutions. I want LGBTQ people to not face any sort of restriction, on or off the lawbooks, and to be accepted as completely normal people in society, which they are, and not live in a heteronormative society. Any and all economic concerns are secondary in importance to me to all of the aforementioned.

So its not an exact match every time, but overall, the Democrats currently hold the views that would set the tone for the kind of society I want to live in, infinitely more than the current stated Republican positions. There are many more issues at hand, but I have to refrain under these rules because those are more about defensively blocking the opponent’s agenda, and it’s tough to do without slinging a little mud😅

Conservatives donate more to charity, their happier, more likely to be married, less likely to be criminals (felons in particular), less likely to have mental health disorders, etc. I can't think of any strong character trait that is positively correlated with the democratic party. Democrats would claim empathy, but I argue unbridled empathy is actually venomous.
2.) How did you feel about Obama putting children in cages?
3) Do you think men should be allowed to compete in women's sports?

So, 1)…I’d first maybe push back on the idea that it’s better to be married than not, from a character flaw standpoint. And mental illness isn’t really a character thing to me, I also don’t view that as a character flaw. It can manifest itself into some character flaws, but the mental illness itself doesn’t qualify to me.

But I’d say these people all just exude kind, positive energy, always endeavor to do the compassionate thing, and most importantly, they have never, ever demonstrated any sort of prejudice or bigotry.

Obviously, empathy has a limit, but I think it should be the default setting, and the harmfulness of anyone or anything we don’t show empathy towards would need to be very adequately demonstrated to me, and the alleged threats would need to truly be clear and present danger, and extremely common in occurrence.

2) Per the Associated Press: “The Obama administration separated migrant children from families under certain limited circumstances, like when the child’s safety appeared at risk or when the parent had a serious criminal history.

But family separations as a matter of routine came about because of Trump’s “zero tolerance” enforcement policy, which he eventually suspended because of the uproar. Obama had no such policy.“

So, overall, I’d like to see something better than cages used to hold human beings. But I’m comfortable with the reasoning for the separations that occurred.

3) i assume by “men” you mean “trans-women”, and as a general rule I’d be inclined to say “no.” My concern isn’t with the ultimate decision but more that I feel the entire discussion is being held with negative energy, like “keep these freaks off the field hockey team!” That feels like an extremely thinly-veiled excuse to bully trans-women over a legitimate topic that, to be completely honest, I don’t believe the vast majority of the people complaining about it could give two squirts of piss about. I also think it’s an extremely rare occurrence but it somehow made into some people’s Top 5, maybe even Top 3 issues they’re mad about…. and again, I would EXTREMELY conservatively estimate that at least half (and I really want to say 80-90%) of them don’t genuinely care about the integrity of female athletics, they just like piling on trans-women because they’ve discovered it’s the one angle they don’t get immediately booed out of the room for taking.

So, ideally, I would like this conversation to be held IN EARNEST, with equal and genuine concern for protecting female athletes and trans athletes alike, and treating everyone with respect and dignity. I hear all this talk about the issue, but I never hear any good-faith suggestions from the detractors about what you’d then do to respectfully and fairly deal with trans-women athletes (who, again, there are only an infinitesimal amount of to begin with), and that just kind of makes me inclined to not take them seriously.

1.) Ah, compassion. I find that to be an interesting metric because I believe it is highly variable and who you view as more compassionate pretty much lines in with your own a priori beliefs. republicans rate themselves as more compassionate than their Democrat counterparts, and Democrats rate themselves as more compassionate than their Republican counterparts. I presume it's a matter of perspective and scope. I had a disagreement with my uncle's boyfriend before about immigration. My point was that mass migration results in wage stagnation and hurts the middle class by depressing wages. His response was that it was nice to the migrants. We both agreed that allowing unbridled migration from third world countries is a kindness to those migrants, but I think that kindness is evil to our own citizens.

2.) If you want to enforce immigration law then you have to separate parents from children due to the Florres settlement (1997) which says that children can't be held in detention facilities with their parents when they're illegally migrating. Thus the statement that Obama did far fewer than Trump is just an admission that he wasn't enforcing border law as the chief law enforcement officer of the lan. There's only two other options, (A) allow migrants into the country and disregard our borders; (B) Put the parents in jail and the children.
3.) I find it to be the opposite. I think everyone cares about biological men entering women's sports and either physically injuring women, or just winning unfairly. This would take scholarships from hard working women etc. The reason I asked was this is one of the biggest LGBT issues that I can think of that are under discussion right now, but if I understand you correctly you agree with the conservatives that bio-men shouldn't be allowed to compete in women's sports.

I support Republicans in California state elections. And I will vote for Trump this year even though I don't like him.

I go with whoever has my best interests as a woman in mind. The party that is more likely to fight for me and not against me. The party that isn't fighting to return women back to the 1950s as far as social standing and being equal. The party that isn't trying to do away with not only abortion but all birth control. The party that isn't backing things like project 2025 and the heritage foundation. The party that also backs me as a member of the lgbtq community. That's who I'm siding with. That's definitely the democrats.

I do know that republican led texas and Alabama both have tried to pass laws that absolutely make it harder for anybody to use birth control or contraceptives. Which is ridiculously irresponsible because the only other method would be abstinence and it's been proven that abstinence doesn't work. It's never worked.

And the fact that I've seen president trump on a private jet with the head of the heritage foundation, talking to him is deeply troubling. The fact the republican vice Presidential candidate is calling women who don't give birth useless is also troubling. It's a party that views women as being baby makers only and just support roles for their husbands. No offense to those that want that life but I don't want to be a stay at home mom. I think women should be just as successful and equal to men.

I'm not saying the democrats would walk us to the promised land necessarily but the republicans would definitely have us going backwards.

Japan has 125.1M people. The difference between old and young here don't make me see that would be good to have that many people. We really don't need to fill up that plenty of land and set up more agriculture. It's logical that smaller communities with less people to manage is easier to maintain.

The difference been We could but should? And I don't think there is a single rational argument to say we should. There is a reasons why animals in the wild naturally don't come cities of thousands, and why they don't typically live for long, why parasites and diseases exist, why predators exist.
All these things keep a balance, and we go against that nature in every way but taking a non-selfish look of my own survival it's not a thing we should be doing. It's like cars we want them for our own convivence but that in no way makes cars actually a good thing for the world or even society.

We've actively gone against it because our own needs are more important than nature, but one day soon enough nature will win all species go extinct at some point and I do think we've actually sped up the process of when we will be.
Whether it's finally a crazy man pushes the red button or a virus that's unstoppable or pollution coming to say hi or mental or physical changes to our birthrates that could be another way of nature correcting it self.
