Personally, I believe that an elected leader will convince enough people that he/she is the only one to save the US from enemies foreign and domestic, and his followers will join with the military to enforce his will. Happened in Germany for Hitler, Russia for Putin, Venezuela for Chavez, Hungary for Orban...

People say we need the Second Amendment to protect us from tyranny, but I say it'll be our neighbors, armed or not, who help tyranny succeed.

At the debate against Biden, Trump during the debate ADMITTED he knew that chaos would attack the Capitol yet still provided the buses to his supporters to get to the Ellipse, still told his people to go to the Capitol, and still Tweeted “Mike Pence didn't have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!”
AND THIS, “These are the things and events that happen when a sacred landslide election victory is so unceremoniously & viciously stripped away from great patriots who have been badly & unfairly treated for so long. Go home with love & in peace. Remember this day forever!” I remember that day forever.

The local law enforcement officials were trying to contact POTUS for permission to send the troops on January 6th after seeing the vicious mob and Trump & The White House refused to answer the phones. Vice President Mike Pence was the one that afternoon to call to action permission to send the National Guard. Mike Pence allowed the National Guard proving that Trump had those powers too and chose not to.

I don't think it's possible with the internet. Not to say millions could due in an attempt but the US constitution is good at balancing power so long as the opposition is not scared to call out anti democracy out.

With obama cheated out getting his supreme court nomination. Then mitch mcconnell puppeting the don into packing the courts and Don face planting on covid I'm slightly optimistic the democratic party growing a spine.

In terms of knowing your community and getting strength in numbers is how safe you are in any attempt of instability.

Why are you guys so anti-dictators? Imagine if America was a dictatorship. You could let 1% of the people have all the nation’s wealth. You could help your rich friends get richer by cutting their taxes. And bailing them out when they gamble and lose. You could ignore the needs of the poor for health care and education. Your media would appear free but would secretly be controlled by one person and his family. You could wiretap phones. You could torture foreign prisoners. You could have rigged elections. You could lie about why you go to war. You could fill your prisons with one particular racial group, and no one would complain. It'll happen by the ballot box and our wallets. And I believe in many ways that it already has.

Look at the election situation we have today. Our choices, quite literally are between a man that, if we're being totally honest, we all know is a mobster and Wall Street scheister; and a woman who is a corporatist slaver and human trafficker, who was forced down the American people's throats after she was found so unlikeable in the last election that she couldn't secure a single delegate vote on her own.

And here's the real kicker: WHO WILL WIN IS ANYONE'S GUESS. If the American people actually gave a shit about Democracy, this wouldn't be a question at all; they would vote for the candidate who hasn't been the victim of election suppression lawsuits. But the American people don't actually give a shit about protecting democracy.

Imagine how insane the world must be that voting a conman back into office is better for democracy than the alternatives.

It's already happening. Joe Biden isn't running the Executive Branch, clearly. He's senile, etc...

The only question is who exactly IS the defacto President? Obama, the Clinton's, George Soros, etc... nobody knows for sure. All of which is very, very, illegal, of course.

The United States Presidency is currently being run and decided by an oligarchy of shadowy non-elected figures. Congress is utterly corrupt, so stick a fork in them. That leaves only Supreme Court seems to be the last branch of government that hasn't been totally corrupted.

Any form of Dictatorship is incompatible with the Constitution. The only way it happens is IF the supreme Court ignores the written words in the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. That happens if/when they become as corrupt as Congress, and the Executive Branch.

By Democrats via the ballot box. They rigged the primary so only Biden could win, then replaced him with a candidate that got 0 primary votes. Then they sued RFK to keep him off the ballot, now they are suing the keep West and Stein off the ballot. Now it's getting rid of 3rd party, non establishment candidates off the ballot, next it will be to make it so republicans aren't on the ballot, so your only choice on the ballot is a Democrat candidate. I say this as a former, moderate Democrat who will never support the Anti-Democratic party again. Looks like I'll be remaining politically homeless as I could never join the Republican party who is just as corrupt.

The only way the United States, or any part of it, would be ruled by a dictator would be if it was invaded during war and the US lost. For example, the dystopian series  "The Man in the High Castle"  has Nazi Germany controlling the Eastern half of the country, and Japan controlling the West Coast, since the US loses World War II when the Germans develop nuclear weapons first.
