1 yYou don't have any choice. The ONLY choice you have is how you deal with it. There are a lot of things about aging that are not fun. But if you dwell on that, you will just make your life miserable.
NO MATTER WHAT YOUR AGE,
it is always your choice how you live. You can dwell on the bad things, or you can choose to make the best of it and enjoy it. That never changes no matter how old you get. That never changes no matter how much your body starts to break down. That never changes even when you can't do some of the things you used to do.
I could talk about all the things that suck about getting old, and there are plenty of them. But I won't. I keep going because I want to live. I am not ready to die. Living is still worth it to me. I LIKE living. So I am going to make the best of whatever years I have left. They are MANY things I enjoy. I will continue enjoying them.

m 1 ymy 40's perspective then, most of the time I don't think about ageing.
What happens when I do? I feel in the middle of a road, looking back, a lot of troubles are behind me, a lot of it is also within me, this euphemism we call baggage. I consider that the main decisions have been made, so there's that. When I look ahead, I don't see much time left, not much "health" left either, I don't like that a lot, but there's no other option. Looking further on the road, I'm even beginning to understand those relieved to depart for the final step. As there could be a point where carrying much becomes simply too much, I sense the possibility.
And then, I return to my "most of the time", thanks for the pit stop !

1 yMy grey hair tells me and a few other things… but I like my new green hair … a lot of it.
I also like my “maturity” 😆aging gracefully you know 😊.
it’s part of life. I embrace it. It’s all good. I prob still have 30-40 more years to go.
that’s why I am enjoying every moment of my life. Have a good laugh and don’t take life too seriously and don’t get too attach to the worldly stuff … such as my suspension 😆

Asker1 yThat's good midnight, keep enjoying your life, although the green hair i would have never expected and I hope one day you learn to treat your suspension well 😆
636 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Not a fan of it. I feel like youth will always be the best years in a person's life. Also, the more you age the closer you get to dying.
When you're young you usually have your health, beauty, parents, a future and many possibilities ahead, less responsibilities and more spontaneous opportunities.
But as you age you do get wiser and have many memories, and usually more economically stable. So there's that.

Asker1 yStill more cons than pros tho but it's a process everyone must experience and it guess it beats dying young.

@avery58
To add a bit then, since there is almost a 20 years gap here: There can be new "best years", in my experience, there may be even a new set of possibilities that weren't foreseeable :) memories will be good and bad, how balanced is ofc unknown yet. Wisdom DEFINITELY help to see things in a completely new way, yes, you will get to see what it means, in person lol

Asker1 yYep hopefully I didn't already chip a lot of years of my life lol
Asker1 yI do indeed but that's never promised, I can get hit by a car later tonight and there goes all that youth lol
1 yI'm scared of becoming so old I won't be able to so stuff anymore, or be independent.
And the possible pain I'll have.
Or if my memory is going to fade.
That's what scares me.
I'm not worried about being in my 30's, 40's or 50's.
It's the 70's and up I'm worried about.17 Reply
Asker1 yWell the life span of a human is 75 so you might not last that long, a bright side perhaps? Lol
- 1 y
Well, most of my grandparents reached their 80's.
my last grandparent is 79 and still kicking. - and she has back problems and can hardly walk or stand for long at a time because it's getting painful for her... so yeah.
Asker1 yI guess it all depends on how you treat yourself from your youth all the way up
- 1 y
Yeah, but I already have lower back problems I'm trying to work on. But it does make me worried for the future when I see my grandma.
Like... She literally lost her muscle, it fell from the shoulder, so she had a lump on her arm.
Asker1 yIt just fell? Dayum that sounds painful AF, I guess eating the healthiest and exercise will work against that
- 1 y
Yeah, never knew that could happen. But there was the lumb and she got blue as well.
She can still move her arm though - probably because of her triceps.
But yeah, she didn't work out like at all.
So I hope I'll do that better.
Hopefully I'll get back to strength training soon - 1 y
@Little_Bumblebee
I have something, specific, for you, applies to fear of what hasn't come yet:
"Accustom yourself to believe that death is nothing to us, for good and evil imply awareness, and death is the privation of all awareness; therefore a right understanding that death is nothing to us makes the mortality of life enjoyable, not by adding to life an unlimited time, but by taking away the yearning after immortality. For life has no terror; for those who thoroughly apprehend that there are no terrors for them in ceasing to live. Foolish, therefore, is the person who says that he fears death, not because it will pain when it comes, but because it pains in the prospect."

1 yI hate it.. I think it is worse because I never enjoyed my youth because I always hated myself. Now it's like I am starting to feel a little better but now I am losing my looks with age WHAP WHAP...
Asker1 yWell peachy if it makes you feel better, older women have their own beauty so no need to be unmotivated 😆💯

Fortunately, looks imply subjectivity, however you put it, be it the one looking at you, or you looking at you. It is subjective. Yes, I mean it as good news. Don't try to make it sounds bad, assume the best :D
Aging sucks, becoming an immortal vampire is appealing, but nothing I can do about that.

26.4K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I freaking hate it. Every day there is some new ache or you don't see as well as you used to. There are things that you can no longer do. Futurist Ray Kurtzweil has written in his book " The Singularity is Near" that within 30 years mankind will have the cure to all major diseases including aging. I cannot wait

1 yNothing. I feel more satisfied than ever with who i am and my age, and that i feel more and more satisfied with my life for every year that goes by.

3.4K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. It'll happen. Is right now in fact. I'll just get uglier and weaker and slower from here on out. But I'm not going to worry about it; I'll keep doing what I enjoy until I can't.

It's not my own aging only that makes me sad, it's the aging of everyone around me. I will miss them. I try to make younger friends but all my friends are young but let's face it I have baby fever 😔. I want to have children
