Trump escaped an assasination attemp too.

I see many similarities between Reagan and Trump.

I know you are forgetting about the funding the Afghan Freedom Fighters and hosting them on multiple occasions who would later become Al Qaeda & Taliban.
AND Ronald Reagan’s complete disregard for Unions & busting them while ruining the economy with his trickle down nonsense. Don’t forget either about him faking his strength, all the jokes were scripted on flashcards which were discovered in a box. Every single one of his jokes was scripted along with the HOSTAGES.
Remember them? The hostages were let go upon Reagan’s victory over Jimmy Carter because he secretly told them to hold onto the hostages until then so it would make him look strong.

Let us not forget everything negative he has done.

For Extreme Right Wingers too: He supported abortion for exceptions of incest, sexual abuse, rape, and more. He supported immigration along the border “instead of talks about putting up a fence…. get a necessary work permit and while working apply for citizenship” which I know rustles jimmies today, but he most certainly was controversial I guess to the extreme right today.

One positive is he gave back the land to the Japanese whose properties were taken by the government & pushed into Japanese Internment Camps due to FDR and his generals in WWII. That I give credit to him for.

Reagan was a patriot during a time when patriotism was look upon favorably. Not like today when America is being attacked from within.

In the movie it showed that for a while he was highly criticized during his run for reelection. Almost as badly criticized as Trump is today. And he (Reagan) won in a landslide, only losing minisota I think?

Issue with these, it is positive deflections of a very negative man. Reagan under the actors union led the biggest strike of the 60s giving actors more rights than ever before, you would think he would be a pro union president as someone who loves the economy & the working class…. Nope. He busted unions, pushed Reaganomics which gave money to corporations hoping it would trickle the wealth down instead of handing benefits to workers directly which slowed progress. As we all know workers unions created the modern 5 day work week compared to 8, pushed safety protocols like fire drills / fire escapes, child safety laws & no child employment, increased wages & benefits, more. You can thank unions for that even if you aren’t in a union, it set the standard so if your business you work for has these things then it is unions that helped you.
Reagan pushed anti-communist fighters in the Middle East to push against Soviets then after USSR disbanded we didn’t take away their weapons or give benefits…. They terrorized the Middle East and creating terrorist groups which is very close to modern Al Qaeda & Taliban & others. Selling weapons to countries to temporarily boost the economy too is associated with his presidency.
We learned that he influenced the election by telling hostage takers overseas to keep them until he is elected to make him look like a powerful leader when taking office.

In the Un-American Committee Hearings he testified claiming there were Pro Communist Civil Rights Leaders also worked to unarm the Black Panthers (for a Party that is pro gun)

Even if you favor Reagan, know this he wanted exceptions to abortion (incest, rape, sexual assault, etc.) since it is a triggering topic. He even pushed instead of kicking out immigrants and having talks to put up a fence have them get a work permit then work here with possibility of gaining citizenship (which is divisive today)
