Why are people so against the death penalty if all the evidence is there then why complain?

Killing someone for any reason other than self defense is uncivilized. No matter how barbaric their crimes the fact that they are in custody means they are no longer a threat. So, the desire to kill them is, itself, just another form of barbarism.

My only problem with the death penalty is the who are falsely accused will be sentenced to death and we all should know how difficult it is for men to prove themselves innocent in today's world.

For multiple reasons. For one, there's ethical concerns. There have been many cases of someone being put to death based on evidence only be exonerated a few years later by new evidence. Meaning that a completely innocent person was executed.

Lethal injection is also shown to be a tortuous way to die. It paralyzes you, so you can't move, but basically makes it feel like there's fire in your veins.

Then, there's the cost. The medicine used to administer the death penalty, as well as paying someone to do it, adds up to a lot of money. More money than if you simply housed the criminal for life.

So between the high burden on tax payers and the moral quandary of torturing and killing a potentially innocent person (or any human being, for that matter), the death penalty just seems like a bad idea.

Why would I want the government to have the authority to kill somebody that is rendered harmless because they are in a cage? It's only for revenge masturbation fantasies at that point.

And one innocent person killed by the government is too many.

I’m not. I think if you do the crime you should do the punishment.
Now it has to be for cold blooded murder (first degree) not for vehicular manslaughter or accidental wrongful death.

Too many innocent people are put into prison. The way the justice system is set up currently, there are too many incentives to be corrupt.
