That is the thing.. There isn't anyone. The biggest threat to an authoritarian is to be replaced from within, which means they will make sure they have no competitors. Trump has destroyed anyone who would have been in a position to replace him, be it if he died or after serving a 2nd term. His retirement plan for the Republican party is "Get fucked".

The day Trump is gone is the day the GOP is thrown into a decades long (if not more) internal collapse.

Because there is no one. Where are all the ambitious and smart people in the GOP? They have been pushed out or sabotaged to the point where they can't easily recover and make a claim for leadership. You would basically have to start over from scratch which is a slow process and that is not to mention that Trump has elevated people who are not a threat to him AKA they are bad leaders.

In other words, the people who should be at the bottom is at the top and the people who should be at the top is at the bottom. You need to reverse the entire party which is not going to be a fast process and its going to be incredibly painful and chaotic.

You gave me a list of people who can't lead the GOP. Some of those had a chance at one point or another but at this point their political careers are crippled.

No, there really isn't. You might wish there to be promising hopefuls but that is simply not reality.

I am saying they dont have a choice. They failed to make a long-term plan and will suffer the consequences.

You are choosing a leader for the GOP. Nothing about this is easy and the internal fighting will prevent anyone from rising to the top with any real authority or mandate.

Joe Biden stepped down without hesitation for Kamala Harris. Democrats who didn't like Joe Biden or Kamala Harris still supported them and put their differences to the side

That is the problem, they will not put their differences aside. Biden stepped down because Harris was already being prepared as his replacement. If that happened before or after his 2nd term did not change too much. The GOP on the other hand is divided among countless smaller candidates who all hates each other and none of them has what it takes to rise to the top.

There are two phases in the GOP. Either they expand their party, AKA "The big tent" where they welcome in any group with even tangentially aligned beliefs, or they purify it where they concentrate their ideology into a single vision. Ever heard of Rhinos and MAGA? The GOP is currently purifying their party of anyone who does not think like they do, which is complicating things when you have several different factions each thinking they are the "REAL" republicans and everyone else is fake.

But this is also just part of the problem. Once again, their candidates are trash which means that they will be unable to convince enough of the party that they should be the leader or even perform the duties of being a leader in the first place.

Even more telling is that they allowed this to happen slowly over a long period of time which means their strategists and such behind the operations also are incompetent since they were unable to identify this as a problem and deploy countermeasures.

This is not just something that you can fix in an afternoon. Its not just something that requires everyone to get along with each other. This is a major systematic issue that you need to basically rebuild the entire party to resolve.
