OR had a hypothetical President John McCain resigned before an alternate future 2012/2016 election? I'm quite a fan of my nostalgic memories of the 2008 Sarah Palin run for VP as a foreign politics news thing at the time - I didn't mind too much when Obama won instead and reelected 2012. I did hope Palin would run/win in 2012 in her own right as President ah well.

No. Sarah Palin was just not very good at politics to the point where she is one of the primary reasons why John McCain lost in the first place. She was a liability which made her becoming an elected VP very small and even worse is that she would have to politically maneuver herself afterwards to become president which is entirely outside of her ability.
She is a populist. She was good at motivating a small group of people to a fanatical degree but the moment you go outside of that small group then she becomes immediately unlikable and not to mention that she has no desire to cooperate which instantly means she will never actually amount to much in politics.
Some say, genuine discussion and polite adult conversation here just as humbled as your answer ๐ I for one, despite all of that, I actually liked the populism of Sarah 2008-2012 era's versus "the populism" that came later in the mid 2010s because, one, I'm humble, and two, I don't like things that come across as mean or rude at someone else's expense. So I liked the feel good populism that Sarah just wanted the best for her country, with a slight sprinkle of yes it's about her ego also along ๐๐ฅณ for the ride, however I for one liked her humbleness better than say someone who's all about them them them 100 percent ego - I just want like 10 percent ego lol. Ah well. I'll have to buy her book which I only borrowed once from a library and then returned when it was due, the book still exists for sale I mean her book about her 2008 campaign. It's one of my fave autobiographies because it had such a nice picture memento section of the 2008 campaign. โ๏ธ๐ She could've been the first woman president of her time and era - ah well โค๏ธโ๐ฉน๐ and again I'm a foreigner so it wouldn't have mattered yet I appreciated from afar the symbolism of a first woman president of her type of angle populist angle - ah well. I've been able to enjoy my own in Clive Palmer over the years.
