Do you need a US firearms permit to do this?

There seem to be a lot of places like this around the U. S., but I don't think it's the same as a regular gun range, because you're supervised by an instructor the entire time, and I've seen videos of kids shooting them even.

I don't have a firearms permit, but I wanted to take my European friend to a place like this, 'cuz she's always wanted to shoot a gun but has never shot one before, because her country has strict gun laws. Obviously, she doesn't have a US firearms permit either. Can anyone just show up at one of these places and shoot a gun, or do you need to be a U. S. citizen and have a firearms permit?

There are not “lots of places like this”. That’s only the third one i’ve learned about. The other two are in Las Vegas. They’re difficult and expensive to run profitably because contrary to popular myth, there are actually hundreds of gun laws between the federal government and any given state government; for fully automatic firearms in particular. The insurance for a place like that is bananas. Complete noobs who have never even seen a gun in real life want to show up and go all Rambo with a full-auto submachine gun. Ell oh ell! It’s a recipe for disaster and only a complete idiot or asshole would suggest otherwise.
Not only do you not need anything more than money to participate, they’re not going to do a background check either. A lifelong criminal or whacko can walk in there and ruin the lives of dozens of people in very short order.
I have family and very close friends with whom i won’t shoot even common firearms. I’m definitely not going to line up with complete strangers with those kinds of weapons. I’m dumb. But i’m not stoopid. Ell oh ell!

There's no such thing as a "US firearms permit"; such matters are handled by the States. Technically, there's not supposed to be any at all, as per the second Amendment, but that's another issue.

Assuming that Orlando is in Florida (which the area code suggests), you should be good- but if you have any concerns, call the place and ask; they'll be happy to tell you what you'll need.
