The US Air Force is reducing the number of white male applicants in the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps program through diversity and equity initiatives under the Biden-Harris administration. Its goal is to reduce the number of White applicants from 60% in 2019 to 43% by 2029.

Let me clarify. Diversity is not necessarily bad, but using racial quotas instead of a person's qualifications, can reduce the overall quality of the group.

Considering the US military has lost more battles than it's won, it's hardly an endorsement for the 60% "White males" that make up the current military grunts.

They NEED to try something cheaper and different. "Diversity" is just doublespeak for paying women and minorities less to get big cost savings. Also, those women and minorities will be trying extra hard to "prove" themselves to boot. Hence why diversity tends to work out. You get a more motivated workforce, and for less.

The US is a spent force. So this is winding it down, before it goes out with the military eating it alive, like the Soviet Union's end.

Also, qualifications don't mean shit in the military. A straight A student is unlikely to make one push up or not shit themselves in their first firefight. Whereas the dinner hall brawler is likely to be the one getting purple hearts and scrambled eggs on their shoulders.

Lastly, the USA military has the worst record in the world for rape among soldiers. Also a high suicide rate. Diversity will hopefully civilise them a bit.

DEI simply means Didn’t Earn It. Diversity Quotas will get people killed. Bald doctors have the highest malpractice lawsuit percentages is my understanding. A female engineer was selected to built a concrete bridge near her old campus. It collapsed and killed a father driving his family. Diversity kills.

Pilots, engineers, doctors, and the like that deal with lives need to be hired based on qualifications other than skin color, sex or gender.

I have seen multiple diversity hires and those promoted well beyond their abilities. It is a disaster. Not only in the job they do and the decisions they make, but in the people they in turn hire as well. They hire poorly because they don’t know what they are doing.

The company will suffer in the longterm and then eventually get rid of them BUT the people working with them will have to suffer much longer until their incompetence is noticed at a senior level which usually comes when senior management gets bit in the ass by their stupid decisions.

Wow. I just googled the bridge fiasco up and in Wikipedia it has been altered so much that you would never know the story at all. In Wikipedia they make it sound like it was men who f-ed the football. They talk about they engineer of record, well that it corporate speak for pinning the tail on another donkey… since it was so suspicious I looked further. Snopes did an article saying it wasn’t an all woman team that did it but that was just clever cover again. The politics here are sickening. At the bottom of their article they finally admitted that it was a female lead engineer who graduated from that college. I will attach the Snopes article with their red herring of lies but with a grain of truth.

What they didn’t discuss is that leading up to this was a big set of announcements about her, her success in their program and what amazing thing this is for diversity. They also didn’t talk about how she was pushed through the university as a diversity student. They didn’t talk about how she was warned that things weren’t right. They didn’t talk about the unusual design. They didn’t talk about her pressing forward after it was clear that it was dangerous. Ego has no place in engineering. Neither does DEI.

Just FYI going from %60 to %40 is not reducing a NUMBER. It's changing a percentage. You could change it by throwing out however many white male applications, or (more likely) you could do it by encouraging more non-white non-male applications. Increasing the amount of literally everyone else who could apply would be a much easier and more fair way to change the percentage of white male applicants from 60 to 40 percent.

I assume you just didn't realize this, so you were not intentionally being misleading with how you phrased the situation. I hope my explanation helps clarify the idea a little.

I hear what you are saying, but since the total number of officers doesn't change much, reducing the percentage of Whites does reduce the number of Whites.

Keep in mind that this is about application percent, not job percent. The assumption is that the most qualified people will still be the ones hired, but since the pool of APPLICANTS will be much bigger and more diverse this should naturally lead to more diverse group of best qualified people among them who end up getting hired. They aren't HIRED because of DEI though. They're just in the pool so they CAN be hired if they're among the best qualified.

That's the idea anyway, it doesn't always work in practice...

Trying to achieve equity in the military in ways safe to our military strength is a good thing. But reporting it in a slanted way is not. The article you showed states that those opinions that are bothering you were provided by "The Daily Caller". The Daily Caller is a right-wing news and opinion website based in Washington, D. C. It was founded by former Fox News host Tucker Carlson and political pundit Neil Patel in 2010. No surprise that the right wing bullshit is being spread. The timing happens to be during the Biden administration, but that is coincidence that the Air Force announced it when it did. I believe they could compromise by having a minimum racial representation law rather than a mandatory exact proportional representation law. So rather than saying the number of minority students must equal minority demographics perfectly, they could say that at least X percentage of their selection group has to belong to a minority group and at least X from each major group must be taken, with no minimum amount for dominant groups like Europeans or ethnically white people.

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 plainly says that discriminating based on race is illegal; United Steelworkers v. Weber said "unless the race in question is white". Bluntly, if your demographic is illegally discriminated FOR and you still can't compete, maybe it's time to ask whether you are the problem.

And if there is a cap, the air force is actively rigging the selection process by limiting the number of white male applications. Effectively throwing applications in the trash because marked White.
