It's a myth, as the USA has made the same mistake the USSR made - build obsolete shit

Russia is superior to the USA, Israel, UK and Germany in rocketry. Even NASA buys most of it's rockets from Russia. It's why none compete with Russia in missile and missile defence.

The problem, the USA has is parts and supply. Its spent a lot of money selling weapons to dictators and criminals. So needs to keep those contracts going before starting any new developments.

The hypersonic missiles are cool. It is the Business and Government machine oiling up again. The fear of Russia and China conjoined with Russian propaganda creates Fear. And from Fear comes movement as COVID has demonstrated with Governmental seizure of Liberties.
