I don't think civilians are ever innocent - they are always complicit. But children are the most nearly innocent I grant. War is always one people fighting another people with greater or lessor civilian (some of who are children) involvement.

The current strategy is to force Israel to take military action that puts civilians at risk because their armed forces are embedded in the civilian population. The catch 22 is to either force Israel to not respond or to respond with consequential civilian casualties.

I see little innocence in Hamas or Hezbollah. If I am to pick who is most evil it would be them.

Hezbollah have never attacked "only military targets" the missiles (mostly the Katyusha) they use are not that accurate they are bombardment weapon that relies on numbers to be effective, they do not care where they land as long as it is anywhere in Israel, that is why towns and villages in the north of Israel have been evacuated within the range of Southern Lebanon from where these missiles are being launched. the missiles that have hit the West Bank were probably some of the few Zelzal-2’s that Hezbollah has that have the range to hit the West Bank, again Hezbollah will not have cared where in Israel they struck, and to be quite frank it was a desperation move after the pager/walkie-talkie/command and control strikes launched by Israel over the last week.

I support the concept of total war. It should be nasty, it should be ugly. It makes it end faster. We stuck around to play-fight in Afghanistan for 20+ years. How many civilians died there? Is there economy great now? Are they better off? Dragging war out doesn't help anyone. Ask the North Koreans. A conflict should end only with the unconditional surrender of one side after they've been beaten too far into the mud to ever rise up again.
