I know the “Muslim rape gangs” story is hot in the streets right now, and I’m not up on the veracity of it, but we’re talking about America, and largely Central and South American migrants who are NOT forming rape gangs.

You can’t live life in irrational fear of people who are different from you, man. We can’t assume certain cultures are dangerous, none of that. All that makes somebody a bad person, so we really shouldn’t lean into any sentiments of that sort, for the sake of decency.

You can’t just assume immigrants are bad news on a wholesale level, that’s a terrible way to think, even if you get some isolated incidents of wrongdoing. It makes you look racist/culture-ist.

Actually yes, certain cultures are indeed dangerous. I would argue putting too many people from Denmark into United States would drastically alter our free speech protections and I would not like that. People from Denmark have absolutely no concept of the importance of letting people from the KKK march in public, they think the open marketplace of ideas is a joke.

People from South America tend to be more used to corruption and are susceptible to it themselves because they view nepotism as more socially acceptable.

Absolutely ZERO evidence to support any claim to the contrary. Why are we MORE upset when a migrant commits a crime than if an American commits the same one? Also…. if you catch a felony as a migrant, you’re gone, back to where you came from…and the whole point of migrating was to GET HERE. Why would you go and do something to get yourself booted after an intercontinental trek to escape? And a SWAT Team from a small town in Rhode Island can probably still take down a supposed cartel holed up in a motel if it came down to it, let alone the Feds. @Daniela1982 It’s safe to say that most of what Americans think about Joe Biden is poorly-sourced. It’s a whole separate discussion I won’t start defending the position of here, but the reality is that Joe Biden has done a pretty decent job overall. We’ve recovered faster and better from the economic impacts of the pandemic than any other country. Like whatever you think is bad here…gas, groceries, real estate…. its SO MUCH WORSE elsewhere. And some of the problems we DO have are actually corporate-greed-influenced, not a result of governmental mismanagement.

The thing I’m most mad and fearful about in America today is my fellow countrymen’s apparent collective inability to perceive and analyze reality, and to fall for mis- and disinformation put out with political gain in my mind. Most REPUBLICANS don’t even like Trump, but they’re beholden to him because he generates the political participation with a new faction of voters.

Republican social policy is broadly unpopular nationwide, so they need to counter that disadvantage somehow with increased voter turnout, and Trump is the only one who’s shown he could do it. So now, the voting is been brought closer to even, by these absolute RUBES, who CLEARLY have NO MF’in CLUE what they’re talking about. Follow-up questions or requests to intelligent explain why they hold their political opinions are their Kryptonite. They just know that they’re selfish and greedy, or they’re xenophobic, or they’re bigoted, and Trump made that shit cool to say out loud again, so they LOVE HIM. @Daniela1982 Daniela, I go to NYC very frequently. One of my good friends was an officer with the NYPD until recently. This is greatly exaggerated. Rent in a subway kiosk is NUTS. That’s why a bottle of water is $5, lmao. You can buy anything you need cheaper above ground and bring it down with you. And no one reads newspapers anymore, that was the big attraction back in the day. Pick up the paper, get coffee, a danish, probably cigarettes lmao, a bag of peanuts for later.

I also live in Boston, we have our own subway too, and people hate it, but because it’s always getting delayed and it makes people late for work, lmao. Crazy shit has always happened in the subway. I LOVED riding the subway as a kid, because that’s when you’d see crazy shit lmao, and a lot of that was the Reagan or Bush The First years. And it continued during Clinton. The point is: none of our social conditions are all that contingent upon government. We like to think it’s controllable, but human beings are wild animals that we’re trying to force to be domesticated. It’ll never flawlessly work, by nature, but we don’t like it and endeavor to stop it, so we negatively rebrand it as “crime.” But it’s unstoppable, we need to radically accept that to some degree.

Not for nothing, a lot of it comes down to what states monetarily quantify as a felony. In New Jersey, it’s only $200 to catch a felony larceny charge. 22 states, including New York, and plus Washington, DC have the most common threshold, $1,000. California is actually slightly below that, at $950. You know who allows you to steal the MOST before it’s a felony? Hope you’re sitting down for this…. TEXAS (and also purple state Wisconsin), at a whopping $2,500 threshold. I could go down to a Texas Home Depot and drive off on one of the riding lawnmowers displayed out front and get either a slap on the wrist or a free lawnmower. Hell, deep red South Carolina will even let you get away with $2,000. So don’t buy this narrative of “red state = tough on crime; blue state = soft on crime.”

I don’t have time today to watch the entirety of your videos, but I buzzed through a few minutes of each. We can’t confirm that just random shots of crowds of people standing around or gang-shoplifting are migrants. And newsflash: big cities have poverty, poverty leads to desperation, and desperation leads to crime. We should be addressing root causes of poverty, I wish we had more energy for that instead of spending it on making YouTube videos of questionable veracity to make people xenophobic and distrustful of government institutions, SHEESH.

I don’t know, man, I understand the resentment towards a thief, but I think your thought is too shallow and black-and-white on this. The very sources of social problems in general are very complex and nuanced, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. I think we fail as humans if we just take the easy, thoughtless way of doing things, and just pulling offenders out of the mix and putting them in time out. I don’t think that benefits the offender when they return to society, and it doesn’t really benefit society that much, either, because most people won’t even know of that specific case to take it as a warning to not do the same. And we already know law and prison and all that exist, yet crime still happens, so none of that is any reliable deterrent. Humans are gonna wild out if they feel like it, and we can try to punish them after the fact, but there’s another guy right behind him waiting to wild out next. You’ll never, EVER catch up; you’ll never, EVER win. Humans are what they are, but they’re also malleable relative to what they experience in life. So I’m just saying I think I more compassionate outlook towards fellow humans leads to a more caring environment, a more caring environment leads to better psychological profiles, and better psychological profiles lead to better socioeconomic outcomes. We can’t just be lazy thinkers and say “fuck you if you fuck up, no further questions, you’re gone.” That sounds like something they’d do in China, lmao.
